We are a stealth-stage hardware-software startup building a next-generation smart retail device that combines edge AI, computer vision, and integrated payment - targeting deployment across Asia
This is a founding-team role based in Hyderabad. You will be the first application engineer, owning the full software stack: onboard device UI, cloud backend, and retailer dashboard - built ground-up alongside hardware, firmware, and CV/ML engineers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Onboard Device Application
- Build a kiosk-style UI on an embedded display (edge compute platform).
- Develop real-time session state management with offline-first resilience.
- Design RESTful and event-driven services (WebSocket / MQTT) for real-time device-cloud sync.
- Integrate with retailer POS/inventory systems and third-party payment gateways.
- Implement JWT / OAuth2 / RBAC authentication and secure payment flows.
- Build a web dashboard for device fleet monitoring, analytics, and operations management.
DevOps & Quality
- Containerise with Docker; configure CI/CD for cloud and OTA device deployments.
- Write unit/integration tests; perform code reviews; maintain documentation.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Languages & Frameworks
- React, Angular, or Vue.js - including kiosk / embedded display UI patterns
- Node.js, ASP.NET Core, Spring Boot, Django, or similar backend framework
Device & Real-Time
- Real-time communication: WebSocket, MQTT, or Server-Sent Events
- Offline-first design and edge-compute aware architecture
Data & Infrastructure
- PostgreSQL or MySQL, MongoDB or similar NoSQL, Redis (all required)
- JWT, OAuth2, RBAC, secure coding and PCI-DSS awareness
Preferred
- NVIDIA Jetson or similar edge-compute platform experience
- Cloud: AWS, Azure, or GCP, monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, or similar)
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 5–8+ years of full-stack development with at least one hardware/IoT integration project.
- Proven track record shipping and maintaining production applications.
- Startup mindset: high autonomy, fast iteration, strong cross-functional communication.
