Job summary

Vertiv in Maharashtra seeks a Senior Firmware Developer - Thermal Application to lead design, validation, and support of electrical and electronic systems for HVAC equipment, with hands-on experience in screw chiller machines and thermal products.

You will coordinate with Mechanical, Software, Product Management, QA, Sourcing and Service teams, drive DVT, commissioning, and troubleshooting, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring safety, cyber guidelines, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Instrumentation Engineering (or equivalent).
• Approx 6 years of relevant industry experience in HVAC, industrial machinery, or automation systems.
• Strong machine‑level experience with HVAC systems, particularly screw chiller machines and thermal products.
• Deep knowledge of industrial electrical systems, power distribution, control panels, safety circuits, and VFD applications.
• Proven experience with PLC and HMI programming in industrial or HVAC applications.
• Exposure to BMS integration using BACnet and Modbus.
• Knowledge of programming languages such as C, C++, Structured Text (ST), and Function Block Diagram (FBD).
• Hands‑on experience in testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting complex HVAC and automation systems.
• Ability to read electrical drawings, control schematics, and technical specifications.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and team‑leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of electrical and electronic systems for HVAC machines.
• Prepare, review, and approve electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, interlock logic, and BOMs.
• Select and integrate electrical components such as VFDs, controllers, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and safety devices.
• Lead PLC and HMI programming activities, including control logic review, I/O mapping, alarm handling, and parameter optimization.
• Drive BMS integration (BACnet / Modbus) including points list definition and signal mapping.
• Support control philosophy development and integration of electrical systems with controls and embedded software.
• Drive design validation testing (DVT), dry testing, performance testing, and troubleshooting in labs and factory.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for electrical and controls issues.
• Support commissioning, field issues, and service escalations related to electrical, controls, and automation systems.
• Coordinate with Mechanical, Software, Product Management, QA, Sourcing, and Service teams for product execution.
• Ensure compliance with electrical standards, safety norms, cybersecurity guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Support localization, alternate sourcing, and cost optimization without compromising performance.

The Senior Firmware Developer - Thermal Application engineer will be responsible for leading the design, development, validation, and support of electrical and electronic systems for HVAC equipment, with strong hands‑on experience in screw chiller machines and thermal products. This role involves technical leadership, cross‑functional coordination, and end‑to‑end ownership of electrical, controls, and integration activities throughout the product lifecycle—from concept to commissioning.

• Lead and support PLC and HMI programming activities, including control logic review, I/O allocation, tag mapping, alarm handling, and parameter optimization.
• Drive BMS integration (BACnet / Modbus or equivalent), including points list definition, signal mapping, validation, and coordination with site/BMS teams.
