JOB PROFILE
The Senior Engineering Manager will manage and mentor highly motivated, skilled engineering teams while providing technical architecture and system design oversight to ensure we deliver the best possible software solutions and generate value through cost savings or incremental business value. Our environment is fast‑paced, and time‑to‑market is critical to the success of our organization. This position will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to delivering applications for high‑quality, on‑time software releases leveraging best‑of‑breed Agile and DevOps practices with a focus on enabling the operations of those applications through a combination of infrastructure solutioning, continuous delivery & integration, and efficient system sustainment planning.
This position is responsible for leading technical design, development, delivery, and maintenance of applications while managing respective Agile work‑streams closely in an environment supporting multiple business lines with often competing prioritization concerns. Developing effective working relationships with various stakeholders and interacting with key business partners to identify their priorities and recommending solutions that best meet the strategic needs of the business is required.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Technology Leadership – Provide strategic leadership for the engineering department, aligning technology initiatives with organizational goals. Drive success by applying technical skills to design and build enhanced processes and technical solutions in support of strategic initiatives.
- Team Management – Hire top talent and build high‑performing Agile teams. Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse engineering team, fostering a collaborative and high‑performance culture. Set clear goals and expectations and monitor progress, including performance management, team building, and succession planning.
- Technology Expertise – Possess deep understanding of MS Azure Cloud platform, .NET, .NET Core, SQL Server, and Microsoft Power Automate. Provide technical guidance and oversight to ensure delivery of cutting‑edge and scalable solutions, critically analyzing requirements and designs, and proposing alternative solutions.
- Project & Product Management – Oversee the end‑to‑end development lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. Collaborate with product management to define and prioritize features and enhancements. Capture, mitigate, and or escalate risks & issues in a timely fashion.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration – Work closely with multiple departments, including product management and operations, to align engineering efforts with overall business objectives. Foster a culture of collaboration and effective communication across teams.
- Quality Assurance – Implement and maintain high‑quality standards for software development. Drive adoption of best practices in coding, testing, and deployment. Log, track, and manage issues, bugs, and enhancement/feature requests logged in Azure DevOps.
QUALIFICATIONS AND TECHNICAL SKILLSETS
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technology subject area required.
- 12+ years’ experience, with at least 2–3 years as an Engineering Manager.
- Previous experience working in a product‑based organization or GIC/GCC (preferred).
- Strong knowledge and hands‑on experience in C# and .NET Core (preferred).
- Familiarity with Azure Services such as Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Azure Storage, and Azure SQL Database.
- Knowledge of Serverless architecture a strong plus.
- Good understanding of development practices and tools in DevOps, Release Engineering, and Infrastructure Management (Git, Azure DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
- Engineering knowledge and awareness of other technology areas like RPA, database (SQL, No‑SQL), and information security (preferred).
- Excellent engineering rigor – code quality, performance tuning, operational excellence; drive best practices of code reviews, design reviews, and architecture reviews.
- Experience with the entire software development lifecycle (Agile, SDLC, iterative) and metrics‑backed decisions during all phases.
- Experience in resourcing, staffing, and delivering technical solutions within a given budget.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast‑paced environment.
- ITIL understanding and familiarity with modern application architecture design patterns.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to communicate effectively with business owners in escalated or tense situations.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, flexibility, and a positive attitude to meet tight deadlines.
- Balance of business and technical skills with the ability to translate technical concepts clearly to non‑technical decision‑makers.
- Rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities; ability to work with a complex stakeholder group across geographical boundaries.
