Job summary

Eaton is seeking a Senior Packaging Engineer to drive the initiation, development and timely completion of packaging projects for the Global Eaton product lines. You will analyze costs, evaluate designs, and develop tooling while coordinating with worldwide facilities and vendors to ensure on-time production releases.

The role requires collaboration with engineering, marketing and operations to create packaging standards, perform value/total cost analyses and maintain robust packaging

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree/PG Diploma in Packaging or Mechanical Engg.
• 8–12 years of packaging engineering experience.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

The Senior Packaging Engineer is responsible for the initiation, development and timely completion of packaging Engineering projects for the Global Eaton product lines. Included within the framework of these duties are cost/benefit analysis of new and existing packaging concepts, evaluation and presentation of alternative designs, tooling development, Testing and production release.

The Senior Packaging Engineer is responsible for the initiation, development and timely completion of packaging Engineering projects for the Global Eaton product lines. Included within the framework of these duties are cost/benefit analysis of new and existing packaging concepts, evaluation and presentation of alternative designs, tooling development, Testing and production release.

This position is responsible for assisting Global Eaton facilities and vendors in troubleshooting packaging problems and design of new product packaging.

• Assist the timely development of new and existing primary and secondary packaging through concept, design, testing, tooling and pilot production in accordance with cost specifications and coordinates these efforts with international company and vendor resources for all Industrial Business
• Develop strategies in one way & returnable packaging
• Financial analysis of packaging projects
• Packaging should cost techniques (Corrugated, steel, wood, plastic, etc)
• Define value stream mapping for projects/ processes
• Develop standards for packaging
• Evaluate end to end value chain for total cost of ownership opportunities
• Create and maintain packaging specifications for primary and secondary packaging
• Prepare Engineering Change Orders for packaging related portions of new Bills of Material (BOM) on new items, any packaging related revisions to BOMs, and any revisions of packaging components.
• Work with graphics designers and marketing functions to create, review and approve packaging artwork suitable for mass production that include all required markings for electrical and trade compliance.
• Maintain communication with the Engineering, Product Management, Marketing, Operations, Sourcing and Manufacturing departments to ensure the timely development and introduction of new packaging and efficient maintenance of existing packaging.
• Carries out package reviews and evaluates performance tests of all packaging to ensure successful completion of the assignment.
• Assist with identification of new materials and processes which would improve product packaging and/or cost.
• Develop pallet patterns to maintain optimal efficiency for storage and transportation
• To Approve & Re-Approve PPAP for Packaging.
• Working with supplier quality & development function in supporting package performance including, documentation, communication, analysis, troubleshooting, and follow-up
• Evaluating new technologies in packaging
• Identifying, evaluating, and implementing packaging innovations to align with company objectives and customer needs including cost, performance, functionality and design
• Sharing best practices, maintaining central data repository by supplier, commodity etc,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree/Post-Graduate Diploma in Packaging/ Mechanical Engg from an accredited institution required.
• Minimum of 08-12 years of experience in packaging Engineering role

• Proficient in CreO, Artios CAD, CAPE
• Packaging Materials and manufacturing process knowledge - paper, plastic, wood & steel
• Basic supply chain knowledge
• Experience in process development
• Experience with SAP or other large enterprise data systems
• Ability to work on multiple projects with tight timelines
• Experience with Microsoft Power BI & Power Apps
• Ability to communicate with varies levels of an organization
• Maintain relationships with internal and external contacts
