Bajaj Electricals Ltd. is seeking a Senior Engineer - Materials in the R&D wing at Mahape, Navi Mumbai. You will lead material research projects, guide junior engineers, and collaborate with product teams to drive innovative material usages in design and manufacturing.

The role requires 5–10 years in materials engineering, BE/B.Tech/ME/M.Tech in relevant fields, and desirable PhD. You will interface with suppliers and internal teams to advance testing, validation, and IP creation.

Competenze

• BE/B.Tech/ME/M.Tech in Materials Science, Metallurgy or Polymers.
• PhD in Materials Science desirable.
• 5–10 years of experience in materials engineering or related fields.

JOB ROLE: Senior Engineer - Materials

REPORTING TO : Team Lead - Materials

TYPE OF ROLE: Individual Contributor Role

LOCATION: Mahape, Navi Mumbai

BU / DIVISION: Research and Development Department

JOB PURPOSE

To lead material research projects, guide junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative ways to use materials in product development. Ensure successful execution of material testing, supplier collaboration, and project evaluation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead research projects related to material issues, investigating properties of plastics, metals, polymers, etc.
• Develop new ways to utilize existing materials in product design and manufacturing
• Supervise technologists, technicians, and junior engineers, providing guidance on materials testing and processes
• Work closely with suppliers to specify, develop, and test new materials for BEL products
• Execute solutions maturity from concept to prototype using a TRL- based process from TRL1 to TRL5
• Utilize predictive engineering and digital simulation tools to forecast material performance and lifespan
• Define and validate unique selling propositions (USPs) and claims
• Execute the creation of intellectual property for innovations

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

BE/B.Tech/ME/M.Tech in Material Science, Metallurgy, Polymers or relevant steams

PhD in material science is desirable

WORK EXPERIENCE

• 5-10 years of experience in materials engineering or related fields.
• Experience with paint and coating formulation, polymer compounding and processing, material characterization, and metallurgy is preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS

• Polymer Coating and Adhesives Certification (Level 2)
• Plastic Technologist Certification

PREFERRED/ ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT

• Proficiency in RCA and problem-solving tools and techniques, statistical tools and techniques.
• DFSS Green Belt
