Job summary

Qualifications

Senior Engineer – Environment, Health & Safety (EHS)
Key Performance Area
  • Ensure implementation and compliance with ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety Management System).
  • Support integration of applicable EHS requirements related to AS9100, IATF/TS 16949, NADCAP, and customer‑specific standards, where applicable.
  • Coordinate internal, external, and customer EHS audits; monitor non‑conformities and ensure timely closure of CAPA.
  • Maintain statutory registers and ensure compliance with applicable EHS regulations related to polymer processing, chemical handling, pressure testing, and high‑energy operations.
  • Coordinate industrial hygiene monitoring, including noise, dust, fumes, VOCs, illumination, and heat stress assessments.
  • Ensure periodic occupational health check‑ups for employees exposed to chemicals, polymers, pressure testing, smoke, and mechanical operations.
  • Promote workplace health awareness and occupational hygiene practices aligned with shop‑floor risk profiles.
  • Drive environmental sustainability initiatives focused on water conservation, energy efficiency, emissions reduction, and waste minimization.
  • Monitor hazardous waste management, effluent treatment, emissions, and chemical storage in compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Track environmental performance indicators and support sustainability reporting for corporate and customer requirements.
  • Liaise with statutory authorities such as TNPCB, DISH, Fire Department, and other regulatory bodies for inspections, approvals, and compliance.
  • Ensure timely renewal of Consent to Operate, Hazardous Waste Authorization, EHS licenses, and other statutory approvals.
  • Maintain workplace hygiene, facility discipline, and compliance with safety requirements across the plant.
  • Coordinate fire safety preparedness activities, emergency response drills, and statutory safety inspections.
  • Facilitate HIRA, JSA, and environmental risk assessments in coordination with Production, Maintenance, and Engineering teams.
  • Conduct EHS training programs covering chemical safety, machine safety, pressure systems, emergency preparedness, and statutory compliance.
  • Implement and monitor the Work Permit system, including approval and control of contractor activities, equipment, and tools brought into the facility.
  • Ensure EHS induction and safety training for new employees, trainees, apprentices, and contractors before commencement of work.
  • Promote a proactive EHS culture through toolbox talks, safety observations, near‑miss reporting, and continuous safety awareness initiatives.
  • Maintain EHS records, statutory documentation, incident reports, risk assessment records, training records, and compliance documentation.
  • Investigate EHS incidents, identify root causes, implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and support continuous improvement initiatives.
