Job summary

News Corp is seeking an End User Computing - Senior Engineer in Bengaluru to lead and optimize enterprise VDI (AWS WorkSpaces/AppStream). You will drive automation, cost control, and cross-region support, collaborating with application owners and vendors to maintain a reliable, scalable environment.

The role requires strong scripting (PowerShell/Python), CI/CD tooling, and extensive AWS VDI experience. On-call duties for APAC incidents are included, with a focus on efficiency and reliability.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of senior engineering experience in enterprise VDI environments.
• Experience building and operating AWS VDI environments at scale.
• Strong knowledge of networking, AD, storage, security, and backups.
• Proficient in scripting and CI/CD tools (PowerShell/Python, Jenkins, Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Experience multi-region/multi-site VDI and on-call for APAC incidents.

• Oversee direction, development, and maintenance of the enterprise VDI environment.
• Manage day-to-day administration of AWS WorkSpaces and AppStream 2.0.
• Implement automated lifecycle management for cost efficiency.

End User Computing - Senior Engineer

Required Skills

• Proven experience (7+ years) as a senior engineer supporting enterprise VDI environments (AWS WorkSpaces, AppStream 2.0, Citrix XenDesktop/XenApp, RemoteApp).
• Proven ability to build and operate AWS VDI environments at scale
• Solid knowledge of enterprise networking, Active Directory, SAN storage, security principles, and backup strategies.
• Strong proficiency in PowerShell, Python, or shell scripting alongside CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation)
• Deep familiarity with AWS CLI, CloudWatch, VPC, EC2, S3, and AWS Service Catalog
• Proven expertise in isolating, diagnosing, and resolving complex technical issues
• Strong expertise in identifying performance bottlenecks and implementing cost-saving measures
• This role requires you to support Multi-region, Multi-site, VDI environments and be On call for critical Incidents for APAC Zone.

Additional Skills Requirements

• Strong understanding of Agile methods, Collaborative development, continuous learning, Customer focused, Ownership
• Working familiarity with JIRA and Service Now
• Demonstrated experience executing medium-to-large-scale migrations from legacy VDI platforms onto AWS Cloud infrastructure

Responsibilities

• Responsible for overall direction, development, enhancement and maintenance of the enterprise VDI environment (AWS Workspaces/Appstream). This includes analysis, planning, development and implementation of new features and enhancements to provide required levels of service to the organization
• Managing day-to-day administration, planning, and problem-solving for VDI infrastructure (AWS Workspaces & AppStream 2.0)
• Implement automated lifecycle management routines (auto-termination of idle resources, automated running-mode adjustments, right-sizing) alongside user notifications to maintain cost efficiency
• Utilize PowerShell, Python, and Jenkins to automate repeated operational tasks, service requests, and maintenance workflows.
• Leverage AWS CLI and CloudWatch to streamline monitoring, operational reporting, and issue resolution
• Accurately maintain all documentation related to configuration, SOPs, processes, asset inventories, topologies, administration manuals, support contacts etc.
• Work with Application Owners and vendor to resolve complex issues in order to ensure a stable environment
• Identify and work on areas of service improvement & standardizing processes
