Job summary

HNB Engineers Pvt. Ltd. is seeking a Senior Engineer – Electrical (Procurement) in Pune to own the procurement of electrical, instrumentation and automation packages for turnkey wastewater projects from enquiry through commissioning.

You will convert design inputs into detailed specs, evaluate offers and drive orders through approval, inspection, dispatch and commissioning, coordinating between design, vendors and site teams.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• 4–7 years total experience with hands-on procurement and technical evaluation of electrical packages.
• Experience coordinating orders end to end — approvals, inspection, dispatch, delivery and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Study tender documents, P&IDs, process write-ups and equipment lists to define electrical/automation scope.
• Prepare technical specs and data sheets for panels, motors, VFDs, cables, transformers, DG sets and PLC/SCADA systems.
• Float enquiries, evaluate techno-commercial offers, and support commercial negotiation within project budget and schedule.
• Review vendor drawings (GA, wiring, SLD, BOM) and coordinate approvals with design team, consultant and client.
• Expedite manufacturing, track dispatch clearance and support site teams during testing and commissioning.

Role overview

We are hiring a Senior Engineer – Electrical to own technical procurement of electrical, instrumentation and automation packages for our turnkey wastewater treatment projects, from enquiry through commissioning.

The role sits between design, vendors and site. You will turn project design inputs into clear technical specifications, evaluate offers, and drive orders through approval, inspection, dispatch, delivery and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

Technical study and specifications

• Study tender documents, P&IDs, process write-ups and equipment lists to define the electrical and automation scope.
• Prepare and review load lists, power and cable sizing inputs, and Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) as the basis for procurement.
• Prepare technical specifications and data sheets for panels, motors, VFDs, cables, transformers, DG sets, field instruments and PLC/SCADA systems.

Procurement

• Float enquiries, identify and develop vendors, and obtain techno-commercial offers.
• Prepare technical comparison statements (TBE/TQ) and clarify deviations with vendors.
• Support commercial negotiation and issue purchase recommendations within project budget and schedule.
• Ensure compliance with client-approved vendor lists, IS/IEC standards and project specifications.

Approvals and coordination

• Review vendor drawings — GA, wiring, SLD, BOM and control philosophy — and coordinate approval with design team, consultant and client.
• Coordinate stage and final inspections (FAT) at vendor works, and review test certificates.
• Expedite manufacturing, track dispatch clearance and delivery to site, and resolve shortages or damages.
• Support site teams during installation, testing and commissioning, including vendor service visits.
• Maintain procurement trackers, document registers and handover documents (manuals, warranties, as-built drawings).

Required Skills

Technical knowledge required

• Panels: design and specification of PCC, MCC, PDB, APFC and VFD panels; form of separation, busbar sizing, switchgear selection, IP ratings.
• SLD and power distribution: reading and preparing SLDs; fault level, breaker coordination and cable sizing basics.
• Load list calculations: connected and running load, demand and diversity factors, transformer and DG sizing.
• Motors and drives: LT motors (IE2/IE3), starters (DOL, star-delta, soft starter) and VFD selection for pumps and blowers.
• PLC and automation: basic PLC/SCADA architecture, I/O lists, HMI, communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus/Profinet) and field instruments — flow meters, level transmitters, DO/pH analysers.
• Standards: working knowledge of relevant IS/IEC standards, CEA regulations and statutory approvals for electrical installations.
• Tools: MS Excel and Office; ability to read AutoCAD drawings; ERP/SAP procurement modules preferred.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in an EPC company on turnkey projects in wastewater, water treatment, STP/ETP or allied process industries.
• Established vendor network for panels, motors, cables and automation in India.
• Exposure to HT equipment (11/33 kV switchgear, transformers, RMUs, HT cables) — beneficial but not mandatory.
• Exposure to municipal or industrial client documentation and third‑party inspection.

• Strong follow‑up discipline and ability to handle multiple projects to deadline.
• Willingness to travel to vendor works and project sites as required.
