Job summary

Eaton India Innovation Center in Pune is seeking an experienced Electrical CAD engineer to provide front end drafting support for MCC projects. You will prepare one-line layouts, schematics, wiring diagrams, and enclosure designs while ensuring compliance with UL, IEC, and NEC standards.

You will collaborate with sales, front end teams, manufacturing, and project engineering to validate customer specifications and drive standardization using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical for efficient MCC

Qualifications

• BE in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 10–12 years of relevant drafting experience.
• Strong knowledge of MCC design standards.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.

Responsibilities

• Prepare electrical drawings including one-line, schematic, general arrangement, and wiring diagrams.
• Collaborate with sales and front end teams to clarify technical needs.
• Design LV MCCs, including power and control circuits and protective devices.

Job description

What You’ll Do

The primary responsibility of this position will be to provide professional front end systems support with minimal direction to prepare all necessary electrical drawings and mechanical drawings including, but not limited to, one line layout, Schematic, overall layout and connection details for complex assemblies from customer specifications and information; perform a wide variety of activities requiring the application of more complex drafting principles and related technical knowledge. Develop best practices working closely with teammates from Eaton India Innovation Center (Pune) and various PDCAD facilities in North America for front end operations.

• Review and interpret customer specifications & requirements, electrical drawings (COE), preparing the general arrangement drawing, Schematic, Single line, three line and Wiring Diagram(WD).
• Collaborate with sales and front end teams to clarify technical needs.
• Design LV Motor Control Centers (MCCs), including power and control circuits, motor starters, and protective devices.
• Conduct feasibility ananlysis and validation of customer specific designs.
• Work with engineering peers as well as cross-functional personnel to ensure custom designs meet customer expectations
• Work closely with DSE, manufacturing, and project engineering teams to refine MCC designs.

Ensure designs meet standards (UL, IEC, NEC) and incorporate thermal management, ventilation, and enclosure design.

• Ensure adherence to international standards such as ANSI, UL, IEEE, IEC for designing/drafting of electrical circuits and Knowledge of ANSI symbols
• Application of standard industry drafting/modeling practices. Demonstrates proficiency with 2D CAD tools for electrical systems.
• Responsible in understanding working principles of various MCC equipment like transformer, Circuit breaker, VFD, Soft Starter, relay, switches etc.
• Demonstrate Hands on experience with drafting tools such as AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical
• Responsible to manage both Mechanical and electrical work efficiently and switch between these work swiftly.
• Responsible to lead AutoCAD Electrical drawing standerdization and implement the new process in the leam.
• Perform control/power cable sizing and component mounting in switchgear. Interprets Metering & modes of communication (communication protocols)
• Select and integrate electrical components such as circuit breakers, contactors, relays, soft starters, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
• Ensure coordination of electrical and mechanical components for efficient MCC operation.
• Size and select electrical components (capacitors, relays, busbars, controllers) for custom PFC panels.

Responsible for designing, engineering, and configuring APFC panels to achieve optimal power factor and improve electrical system efficiency.

Perform load analysis, capacitor bank sizing, harmonic assessment, and selection of switching/protection devices as per project requirements.

Prepare electrical drawings, BOMs, schematics, and technical documentation while ensuring compliance with applicable standards and customer specifications.

• Provide input and feedback for continuous improvement of processes and systems
• Perform Quality Checks to ensure drawings meet Eaton and customer standards / requirements
• Perform other related duties as required.
