Senior Engineer – Design and 3D Modelling for Road Drainage Projects
Senior Engineer responsible for hydraulic analyses and design of road drainage networks, 3D modelling, CAD production, and schedule development. Must have proficiency in Autodesk/Bentley tools and experience in projects from concept through construction, with a preference for US experience.
Responsibilities
- Support and develop designs following company standards, lead drainage teams, and manage project deliveries.
- Proactively lead projects, independently driving delivery from initiation through construction.
- Participate in discussions with lead regions and the GEC team.
- Demonstrate technical command as an independent problem‑solver.
- Engage in risk assessments and recommend mitigative measures.
- Review and update program plans for UK projects as needed.
- Develop relationships with lead regions and junior teammates.
- Enhance team capability to attract new business and achieve 100% quality through processes, training, and checklists.
- Share knowledge and transfer best practices to the wider team.
- Delegate tasks and assign roles to reach project and organisational outcomes.
- Track health, safety, and welfare metrics to zero incident rates.
- Participate in global initiatives such as Base Camp, Digital Initiatives, CSR activities, and H&S activities, including Arcadis Way and Task Manager Training.
Qualifications & Experience
- Civil Engineering graduate with a postgraduate degree in Water Resources or Environmental Engineering (desirable).
- Minimum 6+ years of experience designing sustainable drainage schemes for major infrastructure projects (airports, highways, rail networks, site developments).
- Experience in design management and project management, with a track record of delivering drainage projects in the USA region.
- Strong knowledge of British Standards, construction in drainage, and latest technologies and equipment.
- Proficiency in drainage design software such as Storm CADD/Civil Storm, Open Road (Drainage) Designer, HECRAS, HY8, Flow Master, Culvert Master, Ponds Pack, MicroDrainage Info Drainage 12D and others.
- Experience with BIM software (Civil 3D, AutoCAD), InfraWorks, and Navisworks (advantageous).
- Experience in programme timeline management and quality management protocols.
- Strong risk assessment and mitigation experience.
- Excellent liaison and communication skills for client and project team management.
- Familiarity with Common Data Environment and BIM applications.
