Responsibilities
The successful candidate’s role will be as an engineering designer within the 'UK iCRC Local Government./ Communities' team producing drainage engineering designs and construction drawings. You will be expected to play a proactive part in the design process and be active on a number of projects at any given time.
Key Competencies / Skills
- Demonstrable experience in at least 2 of the following areas:
- Drainage Engineering & Design
- Development Infrastructure Design
- Residential Design
- Design of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS)
- Hydraulic Design and Modelling
- Preparation of Development Drainage Strategies
- Computer literacy with working knowledge of drainage design software such as Micro Drainage, Windes or similar; proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Word and MS Excel is also expected
- Cultural awareness, an open mind and good English communication skills; ability to work as part of a team; quick to pick up new ideas and skills and able to think laterally to generate new solutions to problems
Qualifications
- B.E. / B.Tech (Civil/Environmental) with 4-8 years post-graduate experience with a consultancy or developer.
Desired Skills
- A good knowledge of UK design codes and legislation such as Sewers for Adoption, and well versed in the preparation of drawings for Section 104 technical approval/adoptions.
- Flexibility to work on non-drainage highways design. Knowledge of UK highway design including design to gain S38 and S278 technical approvals would be advantageous.
- Design of UK domestic drainage schemes and external works to gain building regulation approval.
