Job Overview

Copeland has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Hinjewadi, Pune location, this senior-level engineering position requires a basic understanding of refrigerants and refrigeration systems. This understanding should include system and safety aspects of developing test equipment that will allow cutting‑edge development of products to support early adoption of customers and lead to the development of sustainable and environmentally friendly alternatives for the HVAC market.

Responsibilities

• Engage with engineering teams to understand and develop new or revised equipment specifications and requirements.
• Develop, maintain, and analyze data and equipment reporting to help drive informed engineering decisions.
• Develop or modify equipment and equipment software based on performance specifications and reliability test requirements.
• Specify controls components and instrumentation that are necessary to provide accurate and consistent equipment operation.
• Work with technicians in the construction and operation of equipment.
• Work with technicians and engineers to develop equipment HMI screens that readily provide data and are easy to navigate and understand.
• Develop software and control algorithms for the operation of equipment.
• Develop procedures for safe and consistent equipment operation.
• Understand facility requirements to support equipment operation.
• Work with electrical systems.

Required Education, Experience & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Mechanical engineering plus seven (7) years’ experience or equivalent combination of education/experience.
• Self‑motivated and results driven.
• Experience with instrumentation and controls systems.
• Basic understanding of the refrigeration cycle, and refrigeration components.
• Potential travel for training or to support remote plants and labs: 5-10%

Preferred Education, Experience & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Mechanical Engineering plus 7 years related experience.
• Experience programming and troubleshooting PLC’s or Process Controllers.
  • PLC programming (Ladder, Structured Text, Functional Blocks, Flowcharts)
  • Maintain and update program revision logs
• Experience with SCADA programs, SQL databases, and network infrastructure.
  • Work with IT to set up servers and set up network ports and switches for equipment connectivity
• Experience with Visual Studio.
• Ability to specify and integrate specialized instrumentation.
  • Provide access to data generated through:
    • RS-485 Serial or Modbus Communication
    • TCP/IP Ethernet Communication
    • Analog communication (4-20mA, 0-10V, frequency)
• Experience with other generalized analog and digital instrumentation.
• Understanding of low-voltage control systems as well as high voltage equipment systems.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
