Job summary

Carrier Global Corporation is seeking a Senior Engineer for remote commissioning of BMS and HVAC systems. The role requires deep knowledge of Niagara N4, control logic, and field devices, with the ability to diagnose system issues and optimize performance remotely.

The candidate will validate controller configurations, graphics, alarms, trends, and schedules, and coordinate with site teams for successful commissioning and handover.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years’ experience in BMS Remote Commissioning.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering.
• Strong knowledge of Niagara Framework (N4) and BMS architecture.
• Experience with BACnet/Modbus communications and field devices.
• Good verbal and written communication with stakeholders.

About the role:

The Remote Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for remote commissioning, validation, integration, and troubleshooting of Building Management Systems (BMS) and HVAC control systems. The role requires deep technical understanding of Niagara Framework, control logic, field devices, and building equipment, with the ability to diagnose system‑level issues and optimize performance remotely.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform remote commissioning of BMS and HVAC control systems using Niagara N4, NexRev, and Novar platforms.
• Validate controller configurations, control logic, point databases, graphics, alarms, schedules, and trends.
• Commission and verify field devices such as sensors, actuators, VFDs, dampers, valves, meters, and controllers.
• Monitor and analyze live system data, alarms, trends, and logs to identify functional and performance issues.
• Troubleshoot control logic, network communication, and application‑level issues across BMS subsystems.
• Diagnose integration issues across BACnet, Modbus, LON, and IP‑based protocols.
• Provide technical support through calls, emails, and remote sessions for live customer issues.
• Support testing of HVAC systems including AHU, RTU, Heat Pump, VAV and lighting systems.
• Coordinate remotely with site teams, commissioning agents, and internal engineering teams.
• Prepare detailed commissioning reports, as‑built documentation, and technical advisory notes.
• Track commissioning issues, punch points, and action items to closure using project trackers.
• Provide post‑commissioning support and assist during system handover and stabilization phases.
• Support critical commissioning and troubleshooting activities outside normal business hours when required.

Requirements

• 5 – 7 years’ experience in BMS Remote Commissioning B.E/B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical or similar background.
• Strong hands‑on knowledge of Niagara Framework (N4) including station setup, backups, restores, and upgrades.
• In‑depth understanding of BMS architecture, controllers, and supervisory systems.
• Strong expertise in HVAC control sequences and building equipment operation.
• Ability to troubleshoot application, controller, and network‑level issues.
• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical fundamentals related to HVAC and building automation.
• Experience in BMS integrations and third‑party device communication.
• Ability to interpret control drawings, wiring diagrams, and functional descriptions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical discussions with Technicians and stakeholders.
