Job Title (Role): Senior Embedded SoftwareEngineer - Automotive ECUs
Required Total Experience: 6 - 10 years ofhands-on automotive embedded software development, with at least 4 years onproduction ECUs released to an OEM (SOP experience mandatory).
Purpose of the role
The Embedded SW engineer will design, implement,integrate and release production-grade embedded software for automotivepowertrain ECUs (motor controller, VCU/HCU, BMS, on-board charger, etc.) sothat vehicle-level functions are delivered first-time-right and on time incompliance with ISO 26262, MISRA C and Automotive SPICE. The role owns thesoftware layers from MCAL and BSW to ASW, Diagnostics and Bootloader. The roleis accountable for the software quality and issues closure of the ECUsassigned, working closely with the component owners.
Role Description
List down 10 (max) discrete jobs in order of priority:
- Accountability: ECU Application Software Design and Implementation
- Derivesoftware requirements from system and functional requirements. Produce softwarearchitecture and detailed design (components, interfaces, tasks, timing) forthe assigned ECU.
- Implementapplication and driver software in Embedded C for automotive microcontrollerswithin defined memory, runtime and latency budgets.
- Integratecode (and clean it) from MATLAB Simulink / TargetLink / Embedded Coder modelswith the software baseline.
- Performdesign and code reviews and maintain bidirectional traceability fromrequirement to code to test case
- Accountability: ECU Basic Software and MCAL Integration
- Configureand integrate AUTOSAR Classic BSW stacks, MCAL drivers and the RTE using forthe target MCU family.
- Bringup new hardware (clock, memory, watchdog, ADC, PWM, timers, SPI/I2C, NVM, OSconfiguration, etc.).
- ResolveHW/SW integration issues with the embedded team and component owner.
- Ownthe OS task and scheduler design (task partitioning, priorities, runnablemapping) and verify CPU load and timing margins.
- Accountability: Diagnostics, Communication Stack and Bootloader |
- Developand maintain the communication stack, network management and signal databaseintegration.
- Developand maintain UDS diagnostics: DTC handling, service routines, freeze frames,security access and the diagnostic database (ODX/CDD).
- Developand maintain the bootloader and reprogramming sequence including secureflashing, key handling and end-of-line / after-sales flashing use cases.
- SupportXCP based measurement and calibration and the release of calibration data tothe calibration team.
- Accountability: Software Quality, Functional Safety and Cybersecurity Compliance
- Implementsoftware safety requirements and safety mechanisms up to the assigned ASIL.
- EnsureMISRA C compliance, run static analysis and drive deviation justification andclosure.
- DeliverASPICE-compliant work products and support internal and third partyassessments.
- Applycybersecurity requirements: secure boot, secure diagnostic access, key andcertificate handling.
- Accountability: Software Integration, Test and Debugging
- Planand execute unit, integration and software qualification testing and achievethe agreed coverage targets.
- Commissionand use SIL and automation benches for regression testing of each softwarerelease.
- Supportvehicle testing, fault reproduction and root-cause analysis with the componentowner, powertrain and system integration teams.
- Accountability: Configuration Management, Documentation and Cross-functional Support
- Maintainsoftware configuration and change management, including branching, buildautomation and release baselines.
- Prepareand maintain software release notes, integration reports, open-point lists andproblem reports in the tracking system.
- Supportsoftware reviews, technical clarifications and joint debugging sessions withother stakeholders.
- Contributeto reuse, coding guidelines, tool evaluation and competence building within theembedded team.
