Job summary

Infosys in Bengaluru, India seeks an experienced Embedded Software Engineer (JL6) to lead architecture, design and sustenance of embedded firmware for medical devices. You will work with C/C++, RTOS, and debugging tools, and mentor teams while collaborating with customers and development teams.

The role emphasizes analysis of firmware, integration with hardware, and driving testing strategies across the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in embedded software and firmware development.
• Extensive experience with RTOS such as FreeRTOS or NXP MQX.
• Expert C/C++ programming skills.
• Proficient in embedded debugging with JTAG and emulators.
• Experience with CAN, I2C, UART and SPI communication protocols.
• Knowledge of medical device software development practices and IEC 62304 is a plus.
• Experience with firmware sustainment and legacy code modernization.
• Ability to lead technical discussions with customers and teams.

• 15+ years of experience in embedded software and firmware development.


• Strong hands-on experience with NXP MQX, FreeRTOS or similar RTOS.


• Expert-level programming skills in C and C++.


• Experience with Perl scripting, particularly for graphics generation or automation tasks.


• Strong knowledge of JTAG-based debugging, emulators, and associated debugging tools.


• Hands-on experience with CodeWarrior IDE and similar embedded development environments.


• Experience with embedded communication protocols such as CAN, I2C, UART and SPI.


• Experience developing and maintaining automated test frameworks and test suites for embedded software.


• Knowledge of middleware and OS internals (semaphore, mutex, task synchronizations, secure bootloader) is a good add-on.


• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.


• Ability to work independently and lead technical discussions with customer and development teams.


• Knowledge of medical software development practices and regulatory standards such as IEC 62304.


• Experience with firmware sustainment, product upgrades, and legacy code modernization.


• Knowledge of ARM Assembly Language.

• Define and implement unit, integration, and automation testing strategies for embedded software.


• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, QA, systems engineering, and product management.


• Mentor development teams and guide technical decision-making throughout the product lifecycle.
