Job summary

Burns & McDonnell India is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design systems for water and wastewater facilities, including power distribution and emergency power. You will prepare drawings, perform design calculations, and coordinate with global offices on project delivery.

The role emphasizes adherence to standards, QA, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to meet client requirements and project schedules.

Qualifications

• Experience in industrial & municipal water/wastewater projects.
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA and U.S. local codes and standards.
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for electrical design and coordination.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Experience on U.S.-based EPC or design-build projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities, including power distribution, emergency power, load calculations.
• Prepare one-line drawings, motor schematics, wiring diagrams.
• Perform transformer, generator, UPS, battery, cable and lighting design calculations.
• Create cable schedules, panel schedules, grounding and power plans.
• Develop lighting plans and area classifications.
• Review technical specifications and vendor datasheets.
• Support bid evaluations and vendor drawing reviews.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across offices for project execution and compliance.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement in electrical design practices.
• Ensure QA, schedule adherence, and alignment with client requirements.

Your Responsibilities

• Designing electrical systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities, including power distribution (low and medium voltage), emergency power system design, load calculations.

• One-line drawings, motor schematics, and wiring diagrams.

• Design calculation of Transformer, Emergency generator, UPS, Battery system, cable, and lighting system.

• Cable schedule, panel board schedule.

• Grounding plan, cable tray & power plan, duct bank plan, Area classification plan, and lighting plan.

• Technical specification and datasheets of major electrical equipment.

• Preparation of Technical bid evaluation and vendor drawing reviews.

• Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across multiple BMcD offices for project execution and standard compliance.

• Innovation and improvement in Electrical engineering design practices.

• Quality assurance, adherence to project schedule, and meeting client requirements.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) / Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Electrical Engineering

Experience

Years of Experience: 8-12 years

Technical Skills Required

• Experience in industrial & municipal water / wastewater treatment projects.
