Job summary

Burns & McDonnell India is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to design systems for water and wastewater facilities, including power distribution, transformer and generator sizing, and emergency power design. You will prepare detailed drawings, schedules, and specifications, coordinating with global teams on EPC/design-build projects.

The role requires 8-12 years in electrical engineering, proficiency with NEC/NFPA and US codes, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering.
• 8-12 years of experience in electrical engineering for water/wastewater projects.
• Experience with NEC, NFPA and U.S. local codes and standards.
• Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD for electrical design and coordination.
• Strong verbal and written English communication.
• Experience on U.S.-based EPC or design-build projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for water and wastewater facilities, including power distribution and emergency power design.
• Prepare one-line diagrams, motor schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Perform design calculations for transformers, generators, UPS, cables, and lighting.
• Create cable schedules, panel schedules, grounding plans, and lighting plans.
• Develop and review technical specifications and datasheets for major equipment.
• Prepare technical bid evaluations and vendor drawing reviews.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across offices to ensure compliance.
• Drive innovation and improvements in electrical engineering design practices.
• Ensure quality assurance, meet project schedules, and satisfy client requirements.

Your Responsibilities:

• Designing electrical systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities, including power distribution (low and medium voltage), emergency power system design, load calculations.
• One-line drawings, motor schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Design calculation of Transformer, Emergency generator, UPS, Battery system, cable, and lighting system.
• Cable schedule, panel board schedule.
• Grounding plan, cable tray & power plan, duct bank plan, Area classification plan, and lighting plan.
• Technical specification and datasheets of major electrical equipment.
• Preparation of Technical bid evaluation and vendor drawing reviews.
• Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across multiple BMcD offices for project execution and standard compliance.
• Innovation and improvement in Electrical engineering design practices.
• Quality assurance, adherence to project schedule, and meeting client requirements.

Qualifications

Education :

Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) / Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Electrical Engineering

Experience :

Years of Experience: 8-12 years

Technical Skills Required:

• Experience in industrial & municipal water / wastewater treatment projects.
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA and U.S. local codes and standards.
• Proficiency in Revit, and AutoCAD for electrical design and coordination.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Experience on U.S. based EPC or design-build projects preferred.
