Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Gujarat, India seeks an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to translate customer requirements into detailed designs for large and medium power transformers and shunt reactors. You will follow engineering processes, prepare order designs and documents, and ensure alignment with customer specifications and KPIs.

You will perform design verification, create manufacturing documents, manage project documentation, and engage in design reviews while applying 2D/3D CAD and FEM

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical or related field with 5+ years of experience in electrical design of transformers and shunt reactors.
• Experience with testing and verification of electrical designs in power systems.
• Knowledge of 2D/3D CAD tools (Creo/MagNet or equivalent).
• Familiarity with international and Indian standards (IEC, IEEE, BIS, DIN, ISO).

How You'll make an impact:

• Design & Engineering Tasks (Large and Medium Power Transformers)

• Understand customer requirements during quotation stage and after project receipt.

• Follow engineering process to create order designs and documents, keeping project cost in mind while fully aligning with customer specifications.

• Perform design verification using engineering tools, standards, and customer requirements.

• Compile, organize and archive documentation for assigned projects.

• Proactively identify risks and mitigate in solution concept stage in consultation with Manager.

• Align with manufacturing plan to deliver design specifications and create requirements in ERP.

• Actively participate in Design review meetings before finalizing detailed engineering solution.

• Knowledge of 2D/3D FEM applied to electrostatic/electromagnetic simulation is preferred.

• Visit and lead discussions with customers for Design reviews, approvals & clarifications.

• Using latest technology and tools, optimize and adopt innovative design solutions employing best practices.

• Prepare/check manufacturing documents for Core-winding-active part 3D models, 2D drawings and Bill of material in ERP would be added advantage.

• Plan and monitor assigned projects consistently achieving related KPIs.

• Support services for Erection, Commissioning and site related technical matters.

• Possess knowledge of Indian and International Standards & Codes - IEC, IEEE, BIS, DIN, ISO for electrical design related aspects of power transformers and shunt reactors.

• Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background:

• B.E / B.Tech (Electrical) / M.E / M.Tech / M.S (High Voltage or Power System or Electrical Machines.) with 5 year or more years of industry experience in Electrical designing of Power Transformers and Shunt Reactors.

• Overall understanding and domain expertise in Power Transformer and Shunt reactor testing.

• Preferred to have knowledge and exposure to 2-D and 3-D CAD software packages like Creo/MagNet or similar.

• You have the interest and ability to work with cross competence topics.

• Having experience of working on optimization and cost saving projects utilizing alternative materials, processes, and solutions.

• You have good communication skill and are fluent in English (both written and spoken).

• Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
