Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Vadodara seeks a senior Electrical Design Engineer to deliver design and engineering solutions for Power Transformers and Shunt Reactors within defined timelines. You will adhere to customer specifications, follow engineering processes, and prepare manufacturing documents while ensuring compliance with IEC, IEEE, BIS, DIN, ISO standards.

The role requires 5+ years of industry experience in electrical design of transformers, proficiency with Creo/Magnet CAD, and strong English

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience in Electrical designing of Power Transformers and Shunt Reactors.
• Experience with designing and testing Power Transformers and Shunt Reactors.
• Familiarity with 2D/3D CAD tools such as Creo/MagNet or similar.
• Knowledge of Indian and International Standards & Codes (IEC, IEEE, BIS, DIN, ISO) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design & Engineering Tasks for Power Transformers.
• Understand customer requirements during quotation and after project receipt.
• Prepare and check manufacturing documents for 3D models, 2D drawings, and BOM in ERP.
• Lead design reviews and participate in risk mitigation during concept stage.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and align with manufacturing plan.

Job description

The Opportunity

To understand customer requirements and deliver product design and engineering solutions within defined timelines, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and assigned KPIs.

How You'll Make An Impact

• Design & Engineering Tasks (Power Transformers)
• Understand customer requirements during quotation stage and after project receipt.
• Follow engineering process to create order designs and documents, keeping project cost in mind while fully aligning with customer specifications.
• Perform design verification using engineering tools, standards, and customer requirements.
• Compile organize and archive documentation for assigned projects.
• Proactively identify risks and mitigate in solution concept stage in consultation with Manager.
• Align with manufacturing plan to deliver design specifications and create requirements in ERP.
• Actively participate in Design review meetings before finalizing detailed engineering solution.
• Knowledge of 2D/3D FEM applied to electrostatic/electromagnetic simulation is preferred.
• Visit and lead discussions with customers for Design reviews, approvals & clarifications.
• Using latest technology and tools, optimize and adopt innovative design solutions employing best practices.
• Prepare/check manufacturing documents for Core-winding-active part 3D models, 2D drawings and Bill of material in ERP.
• Plan and monitor assigned projects consistently achieving related KPIs.
• Support services for Erection, Commissioning and site related technical matters.
• Possess knowledge of Indian and International Standards & Codes – IEC, IEEE, BIS, DIN, ISO for electrical design related aspects of power transformers and shunt reactors.

Your Background

• B.E / B.Tech (Electrical) / M.E / M.Tech / M.S (High Voltage or Power System or Electrical Machines.) with 5 year or more years of industry experience in Electrical designing of Power Transformers and Shunt Reactors.
• Overall understanding and domain expertise in Power Transformer and Shunt reactor testing.
• Preferred to have knowledge and exposure to 2-D and 3-D CAD software packages like Creo/MagNet or similar.
• You have the interest and ability to work with cross competence topics.
• Having experience of working on optimization and cost saving projects utilizing alternative materials, processes, and solutions.
• You have good communication skill and are fluent in English (both written and spoken).
• Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
