Job summary

Renrui HR Services India Private Limited is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead design activities for EHV/MV/LV substations and power system projects in India. You will drive primary, secondary, and detailed engineering, ensure compliance with IS/IEC/IEEE standards, and coordinate with utilities, consultants, and clients to deliver reliable, cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical engineering activities across projects including primary, secondary, and detailed engineering.
  • Review engineering deliverables and provide technical guidance to team members.
  • Ensure activities align with project specifications, standards, and timelines.
  • Support development and implementation of engineering best practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical capability development.
  • Prepare/review SLDs, protection schemes, and AIS/GIS substations up to 400kV.
  • Review screens for control, protection, and interlocking philosophies; electrical equipment sizing.
  • Perform/review Load Flow, Short Circuit, Motor Starting, and Stability Studies; hands-on ETAP.
  • Coordinate with utilities, consultants, and clients for approvals and grid connectivity.
  • Review tender specifications, DBR, datasheets, and MR; participate in Technical Bid Evaluation.

M.Tech in Power Systems / Electrical Engineering will be preferred.

Role Summary

The Senior Electrical Design Engineering will be responsible for managing and executing electrical engineering activities for EHV/MV/LV substations and power system projects. The role will involve primary and secondary engineering, system studies, detailed engineering, technical evaluations, design reviews, and coordination with clients, utilities, consultants, OEMs, and project teams.

The candidate will provide strong technical guidance to engineering teams, ensure compliance with applicable IS/IEC/IEEE standards, and support project delivery with focus on quality, safety, reliability, and cost optimization.

Key Responsibilities
1. Electrical Engineering & Team Leadership
  • Manage electrical engineering activities across projects, including primary, secondary, and detailed engineering.
  • Review engineering deliverables and provide technical guidance to team members.
  • Ensure engineering activities are executed as per project specifications, standards, and timelines.
  • Support development and implementation of engineering best practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical capability development.
2. Electrical Diagrams & System Engineering
  • Prepare/review Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) and protection schemes for EHV/MV/LV systems.
  • Review schematic diagrams, control logics, I/O lists, schedules, and interlocking philosophies.
  • Review control, protection, and automation schemes.
  • Handle engineering activities for AIS/GIS substations up to 400kV.
  • Review conductor sizing, sag-tension analysis, and short-circuit force calculations.
  • Support development and review of protection philosophies.
  • Review engineering of conductors, insulators, bus systems, and associated electrical equipment.
4. System Studies & Simulations
  • Perform/review Load Flow, Short Circuit, Motor Starting, and Stability Studies.
  • Hands‑on experience with ETAP is required.
  • Review study assumptions, results, and recommendations.
  • Coordinate with utilities and consultants for system approvals and grid connectivity studies.
5. Detailed Electrical Engineering
  • Review/preparation of:
  • Cable schedules and routing
  • Earthing and earth mat designs
  • BOQs and technical specifications
  • Ensure engineering compliance with applicable IS/IEC/IEEE standards.
6. Layouts & Drawings
  • Review substation GA drawings, equipment layouts, erection key diagrams, raceways, grounding, lighting, and cable trench layouts.
  • Ensure designs are technically sound, constructible, safe, and optimized.
7. Equipment Engineering & Sizing
  • Review sizing and selection of:
  • Power Transformers
  • CTs / PTs
  • Isolators
  • HT/LT Switchboards
  • MCCs
  • DC Systems
  • UPS, Batteries & Chargers
  • Auxiliary Systems
  • Ensure equipment selection meets project requirements and applicable standards.
8. Tendering & Technical Evaluation
  • Prepare/review Tender Specifications, Design Basis Reports (DBR), Datasheets, and Material Requisitions (MRs).
  • Participate in Technical Bid Evaluation (TBE), technical comparisons, and vendor clarifications.
  • Evaluate technical solutions based on performance, reliability, cost, and compliance.
9. Secondary Systems & Automation
  • Review secondary engineering activities including:
  • SCADA
  • RTU
  • SAS
  • PLCC
  • FOTE
  • Ensure proper integration between primary and secondary systems.
10. Client & Project Coordination
  • Coordinate with clients, utilities, EPC partners, OEMs, consultants, and internal project teams.
  • Support resolution of technical issues, deviations, design changes, and project risks.
  • Ensure timely completion of engineering deliverables and milestones.
  • 7+ years of experience in Electrical / Power System Engineering.
  • Strong experience in EHV/MV/LV Substations and Power Systems.
  • Experience in AIS/GIS Substation Engineering up to 400kV.
  • Strong knowledge of Protection Systems and Electrical System Studies.
  • Hands‑on/review experience with ETAP.
  • Knowledge of SCADA, RTU, SAS, PLCC, FOTE and secondary systems.
  • Strong understanding of IS/IEC/IEEE standards.
  • Experience in electrical equipment sizing and selection.
  • Experience in engineering drawings, SLDs, layouts, cable schedules, earthing, and lightning protection.
  • Exposure to Tendering, DBR, Datasheets, MRs and Technical Bid Evaluation.
  • Good team management, analytical, problem‑solving, and stakeholder‑management skills.
Preferred Candidate Profile

Candidates with 7+ years of relevant experience in power system/substation engineering, particularly those who have worked on EHV substations, GIS/AIS projects, grid integration, protection systems, ETAP studies, and detailed electrical engineering, will be preferred.
