Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services in India seeks a senior electrical substation design engineer to lead design and detailing for AIS and GIS substations, with emphasis on upgradation, equipment selection, and construction support.

The role requires coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, delivering engineering specifications, data sheets, and site installation drawings, and ensuring compliance with IEC/IEEE/ANSI standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in design and detailed engineering for AIS and GIS substations.
• Experience upgrading brownfield substations: transformers, breakers, CT/PT replacements.
• Preparation of electrical assembly drawings for substation yard/switchyard equipment.
• Experience leading EPC projects from scoping to commissioning support.
• Leadership of design and drafting teams (min 10 members).
• Customer-facing experience to resolve issues.
• Experience with multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of HT/LT equipment sizing and selection.
• Design of lightning protection, surge arresters, batteries, chargers, and site power.
• Preparation of engineering specs, data sheets, MR/PR, and vendor bid evaluations.

Responsibilities

Job description

1. Good experience in Design & Detailed engineering for both AIS and GIS Substations.

2. Good experience with handling upgradations & modifications in brownfield substations including Transformer, circuit breaker, switches, CT, PT replacements etc.

3. Good experience with preparing Electrical Assembly drawings for Substation outdoor Yard or Switchyard Equipments including Plan & Section views.

4. Good experience in handling EPC projects starting from Scoping phase till construction & commissioning support.

5. Good experience in leading the team with atleast a 10 member design & Drafting team.

6. Good Experience in customer front ending to resolve issues.

7. Good Experience working with multidisciplinary/cross functional teams.

8. Good experience in Selection & sizing of HT / LT Switchgears, Transformers, Breakers, Disconnect Switches, Regulators, Cables, Capacitor banks etc .

9. Good Experience in designing of Lightning Protection, Surge Arresters, Station batteries, battery chargers & AC Station Service.

10. Good experience in preparing Engineering Specification, Data Sheets, Material Requisition & Purchase Requisition, Vendor Bid Evaluation & Approvals for Various electrical equipments

11. Good understanding on the various types of SLD schemes, Station Station layout, control building layout, Earthing layout, Lighting layout, Cable Trench, Tray, Pull box etc.

12. Clear understanding on activities and deliverables during Scoping (ITO phase) and Detailed engineering phase (OTR phase).

13. Good Experience in preparing site installations drawings for High Voltage equipment.

14. Good understanding and experience in IEC/IEEE/ANSI/NEMA and other international standards 15. Good understanding and experience on various High Voltage substation arrangements.

16. Good understanding and experience in Building Management System like HVAC, Fire Protection, Station & Building Security Systems, CCTV, Auxiliary Power Distribution 17. Good verbal and written communication.

Good-to-Have

1. Work experience on Gas Insulated & Air Insulated Switchgear substations above 220KV.

3. Experience in working with Electrical Utility companies
