Job summary

Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India Private Limited seeks an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to design and operate a cloud-native platform for mission-critical apps. You will lead Kubernetes-based infra, GitOps and CI/CD automation, and secure data services, while mentoring juniors and driving adoption of open-source tech.

Key tech includes ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, Helm, Kong and Traefik gateways, Kafka (Strimzi), Vault, and extensive monitoring with Grafana, Prometheus, Loki.

Qualifications

• Experience in designing and operating cloud-native platforms.
• Expert Kubernetes administration including deployments, RBAC, and CRDs.
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL high availability and replication.
• Proficiency in ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, and Helm.
• Familiarity with API gateways (Kong, Traefik) and Kafka ecosystems.
• Security, observability, and platform reliability focus.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior DevOps Engineer to design, build, and operate a modern cloud-native platform that supports mission-critical applications and data services. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Kubernetes-based infrastructure, GitOps practices, CI/CD automation, database administration, observability, and platform security.

You will play a key role in driving platform reliability, scalability, and developer productivity while mentoring junior engineers and adopting open-source technologies to enhance our engineering ecosystem.

GitOps & CI/CD: ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, Helm

API Gateway & Ingress: Kong Gateway, Traefik

Streaming & Messaging: Apache Kafka (Strimzi)

Security: HashiCorp Vault, OpenBao

Configuration Management: Ansible

Key Responsibilities:

Design and manage advanced CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD GitOps).

• Deploy and operate highly available PostgreSQL & MySQL clusters.
• Manage Kong API Gateway and optimize Kubernetes infrastructure.
• Operate and enhance monitoring (Grafana, Prometheus, Loki) and ensure security compliance.
• Manage Kafka clusters, perform capacity planning, and participate in incident response.
• Mentor junior engineers and deploy new open-source platforms end-to-end.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience:

8+ years in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering.

• Expert-level Kubernetes (deployments, StatefulSets, RBAC, CRDs) and Docker.
• Extensive experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL (HA, replication) and Helm chart development.
• Proficiency with ArgoCD, Prometheus + Grafana (PromQL), and Apache Kafka.
• Strong Linux administration, scripting (Bash, Python, Go), and CI/CD (GitHub Actions).
• Experience with HashiCorp Vault and Traefik ingress controller.
