Job summary

Nxtwave Disruptive Technologies is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer / Tech Lead in Mumbai to own backend architecture, mentor the team, and ship reliable production systems. You will design APIs, data models, and scalable services while collaborating with React Native engineers and other stakeholders.

The role emphasizes hands-on backend work, cloud proficiency (AWS/GCP), CI/CD, observability, and security, with a focus on fintech-like, high-trust product domains.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python backend development.
• Good experience with REST APIs, relational databases, asynchronous processing, queues, webhooks, caching, and event-driven systems.
• Experience with React Native or strong understanding of mobile-backend integration.
• Experience with AWS or GCP and cloud-based application development.
• Good knowledge of CI/CD, Docker/containerisation, monitoring, logging, security, and production support.
• Strong understanding of system design, scalability, reliability, testing, and observability.
• Experience with fintech, payments, investments, banking, or other high-trust products is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with AI/LLM integrations or AI-assisted development is preferred.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, code-review, and ownership skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python.
• Build APIs, business workflows, integrations, background jobs, webhooks, and reconciliation systems.
• Own backend architecture, data models, service boundaries, and technical design.
• Collaborate with React Native engineers to define APIs and integrations.
• Design asynchronous and event-driven workflows with proper retry and reconciliation handling.
• Work with relational databases, caching, queues, APIs, and third-party integrations.
• Establish best practices for coding, testing, reviews, documentation, observability, and production releases.
• Mentor junior developers through code reviews, design discussions, debugging, and guidance.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Operations, and other stakeholders to deliver technical solutions.
• Improve CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, monitoring, logging, security, and deployment processes.
• Evaluate and integrate AI tools and technologies to boost productivity or capabilities.

• Establish best practices for coding, testing, code reviews, documentation, observability, and production releases.
