Praxair India Private Limited, part of the Linde group, is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to design AI-driven plant control algorithms and optimize industrial processes. The role emphasizes collaboration with process engineers, DevOps, and global teams to translate domain knowledge into scalable AI solutions.

The position requires a strong background in ML, optimization, and production-grade software, with excellent English communication and a results-oriented mindset.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in ML, CS, Math, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years in applied ML, optimization, and software development.
• Strong Python programming for production-grade ML.
• Expertise in ML, surrogate modeling, optimization, MPC for industrial systems.
• Understanding of non-linear data-driven models and deployment considerations.
• Experience with model training, deployment workflows, and DevOps collaboration.
• Knowledge of advanced process control systems and industrial IoT.
• Strong ownership, results-driven mindset, and collaborative communication.
• Fluency in English.

Making an impact. What will you do?

• You will design and evolve algorithms for Linde's in-house AI-based plant control software, including non-linear data-based models and optimization methods
• You will contribute to core controller development with a focus on robustness, optimizer performance, and scalability for productive deployments across multiple plants worldwide
• You will collaborate with process engineers and domain experts to translate plant operating knowledge into AI-driven control and optimization strategies
• You will work with developers, DevOps specialists, and engineers across the end-to-end workflow from model training and deployment to optimization and continuous improvement
• You support deployment and continuous improvement of AI-based optimization solutions across Linde plants using robust engineering practices

Winning in your role. Do you have what it takes?

• You have a Master's or PhD degree in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related technical field
• You have 5+ years of experience in applied machine learning, optimization, and software development
• You have strong Python programming skills and hands‑on experience developing, deploying, and operating production‑grade ML solutions, including the use of AI‑assisted development tools such as Claude and GitHub Copilot
• You have expertise in machine learning, surrogate modeling, advanced optimization, model predictive control, or related techniques for industrial systems
• You possess a solid understanding of non‑linear data‑driven models, optimization performance, robustness, scalability, and deployment considerations
• You have experience with model training, deployment workflows, DevOps collaboration, and the continuous improvement of productive software solutions
• You have knowledge of advanced process control systems and industrial IoT, or a strong interest in applying AI to industrial process operations
• You have a strong ownership and results‑oriented mindset, combined with a structured approach to solving complex machine learning, optimization, and process control challenges
• You possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and collaborate effectively with scientists, developers, engineers, and domain experts in an agile, continuously improving environment
• You have very good fluency in English
