Job summary

Novo Nordisk A/S in Bengaluru, India invites a Senior Data Engineer to build and run data pipelines that empower the right data to the right people at the right time. You will craft cloud-native platforms for commercial and consumer insights, accelerating smarter decisions across markets.

Collaborating with data scientists, analysts and architects, you will leverage SQL, Python/Java, Snowflake and cloud services, while enforcing governance and security across data products.

Qualifications

• A graduate or postgraduate degree in a data-related field, Computer Science or similar.
• 7+ years of experience in data engineering or a comparable role; Snowflake experience a plus.
• Strong SQL and Python/Java skills for building scalable data pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and integration solutions, aligned with the target architecture and data strategy.
• Optimise data integration workflows, harmonising data from various sources and using APIs to move data securely and consistently.
• Ensure adherence to data governance, quality and security standards by implementing validation checks and protecting sensitive information.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts and architects to understand needs and provide fit-for-purpose data solutions.
• Monitor and maintain data systems to ensure reliability and performance, and perform preventive maintenance.

Location:Novo Nordisk Global Business Services (GBS) Bengaluru, India (hybrid – minimum three days per week in the office)

As Senior Data Engineer, you will build and run the data pipelines that keep the right data mov-ing to the right people at the right time. You will strengthen our commercial and consumer portfolio through modern, cloud-native data platforms, turning diverse data into insights that enable faster, smarter decisions at scale. Your work will support colleagues across operations, planning and analytics – and, in turn, progress for people living with serious chronic diseases.

What you'll bring

We're looking for someone who can design robust data solutions and collaborate confidently across technical and business teams. You'll bring:

• A graduate or postgraduate degree (B.Tech/M.Tech/MSc) in a data-related field, Computer Science or a similar discipline.


• 7+ years of experience in data engineering or a comparable role. Good work experience in Snowflake is an added advantage.


• Proven expertise in data extraction, transformation and reporting in scalable environments (ETL).


• Strong data modelling skills and advanced SQL for querying and managing large datasets.


• Programming proficiency in Python and Java to build and optimise data workflows.


• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.


• Data manipulation and processing using AI and machine learning techniques.


• Knowledge of data governance principles, data quality assurance and data security stand-ards.


• Good listening and communication skills in English, a curious and self-starting mindset, and a genuine interest in understanding the business.

Useful, but not essential:

• Familiarity with big data tools such as Hadoop, Spark or Kafka for large-scale and real-time data processing.

What you'll do

You will own the design, delivery and reliability of commercial data engineering solutions, work‑ing across systems and domains to deliver outcomes that matter:

• Design, build and maintain scalable commercial data pipelines and integration solutions, aligned with the target architecture and data strategy, and monitor them to keep data flow‑ing with minimal downtime.


• Optimise data integration workflows, harmonising data from various sources and using APIs and other tools to move data securely and consistently across systems.


• Ensure adherence to data governance, quality and security standards by implementing vali‑dation checks and protecting sensitive commercial information.


• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts and architects to understand their needs and pro‑vide fit‑for‑purpose data solutions, including support for data models and algorithms that drive insights.


• Monitor and maintain data systems to ensure reliability and performance, and perform pre‑ventive maintenance to keep operations running.


• Research and apply the latest data engineering technologies and best practices, and help build a strong capability across data domains through knowledge sharing and collaboration.

Who you'll work with

You will join a data engineering team dedicated to strengthening our commercial and consumer portfolio through modern data platforms and cloud‑native solutions. The team works closely with colleagues across solutions, Data and AI foundation, operations, planning and analytics to ensure the right data reaches the right people at the right time.

You will operate with a high degree of independence in selecting tools and technologies, while partnering closely with Technical Product Owners, Commercial Domain delivery leads, the Data Governance team, IT QC/QA and Compliance, data scientists, data stewards, data providers and platform partners – locally and globally. You will also represent the department in cross‑functional forums, advocating for data engineering best practice and sharing new ideas across a truly global organisation.
