Responsibilities

• Define and own the end-to-end enterprise data architecture strategy.
• Design reference architectures and solution blueprints for cloud-based, Snowflake-centric data platforms.
• Architect data solutions covering ingestion, transformation, storage and consumption layers.
• Guide teams towards agreed architecture and ensure adherence to enterprise standards.
• Develop conceptual, logical and physical data models and associated artefacts.
• Design data warehouse solutions using Data Vault 2.0, SCD Type 1 & Type 2, Persistent Staging Areas, CDC.
• Design repeatable ETL/ELT frameworks using dbt for transformation orchestration.
• Establish architectural principles, design patterns, naming conventions and data standards.

Role: Senior Data Architect – Snowflake & dbt

The successful candidate will play a key role in defining and steering the end-to-end data architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, scalability requirements and long-term business objectives.

The role requires someone who can operate as a hands-on individual contributor and architectural leader, working closely with stakeholders and engineering teams to translate business requirements into practical, scalable architecture.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and own the end-to-end enterprise data architecture strategy.
• Design reference architectures and solution blueprints for cloud-based, Snowflake-centric data platforms.
• Architect data solutions covering ingestion, transformation, storage and consumption layers.
• Guide teams towards agreed architecture and ensure adherence to enterprise architecture standards.
• Develop Conceptual, Logical and Physical Data Models and associated architectural artefacts.
• Design enterprise data warehouse solutions using established patterns including:
• Data Vault 2.0
• SCD Type 1 & Type 2
• Persistent Staging Areas
• Change Data Capture – CDC
• Design repeatable and industrialised ETL/ELT frameworks using dbt for transformation orchestration.
• Define integration patterns for ingesting data from heterogeneous source systems.
• Establish architectural principles, design patterns, naming conventions and data standards.
• Conduct architecture reviews and ensure compliance across delivery teams.
• Evaluate and recommend cloud-native data technologies and tooling.
• Drive architectural decisions through properly documented Architecture Decision Records – ADRs.
• Identify business and platform inefficiencies and recommend approaches for improving data processing, handling and cleansing.
• Contribute innovative ideas towards the development of future data products.
• Ensure appropriate consideration of data privacy, GDPR and sensitive-data historisation.
• Collaborate effectively with business, engineering and technology stakeholders.
