Senior Content Writer & Editor

Product Design & R&D JAIPUR FULL_TIME Posted Oct 9, 2026

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Content Writer & Editor with 8–10+ years of experience in the Content & Editorial function, preferably in children’s books and children’s publishing. This is not a conventional content‑writing role; we need someone who understands that creating a children’s book goes beyond writing good copy. It involves understanding the child, developing engaging narratives, structuring information effectively, sparking curiosity, and collaborating closely with the design team to bring each book to life. The ideal candidate should be a strong storyteller, an exceptional editor, highly detail-oriented, and deeply child‑first in their approach, with the ability to manage books from concept to final execution through content development, writing, editing, refinement, and collaboration with designers.

Website: www.kidureka.com

What You’ll Do
  • Take end-to-end ownership of book content, from initial concept to final production, including understanding the target age group, objectives, and learning or play intent; developing content structure, tone, flow, and narrative; creating original stories, activities, educational material, prompts, and interactive content; contributing creative ideas beyond existing briefs; refining content through feedback, testing, and design requirements; and ensuring consistency in language, facts, terminology, characters, and storytelling throughout the book.
  • Demonstrate exceptional storytelling skills by creating engaging, age‑appropriate, and emotionally resonant stories for children with strong openings, effective pacing, meaningful progression, and memorable endings. Make educational content interesting and enjoyable rather than textbook‑like, using humour, curiosity, surprise, imagination, repetition, and emotion to engage different age groups. Simplify complex ideas into child‑friendly language and develop relatable characters, situations, and imaginative worlds that capture children’s interest and keep them engaged.
  • Apply a child‑first approach to every content decision by considering how children of different age groups will understand, interpret, and engage with the material. Create content that captures attention, sparks curiosity, encourages continued exploration, and uses natural, age‑appropriate language. Balance simplicity with depth, respect children’s intelligence, and ensure every page and activity feels engaging, clear, enjoyable, and meaningful without being overwhelming or confusing.
  • Collaborate closely with designers and illustrators throughout the book‑making process to ensure content and visual elements work seamlessly together. Clearly communicate content intent, contribute to page flow, storytelling structure, hierarchy, and content placement, and understand how text, illustrations, typography, activities, and graphics enhance the reading experience. Review designed pages, identify content‑related issues, and recommend revisions to improve clarity, engagement, and visual communication. Work collaboratively to refine, shorten, expand, or reorganize content and ensure every idea is communicated effectively to children through a thoughtful combination of words and visuals.
  • Maintain exceptional attention to detail throughout the publishing process by identifying and correcting grammatical, spelling, punctuation, and syntax errors, along with inconsistencies in language, terminology, names, facts, and formatting. Ensure content is age‑appropriate, clear, concise, and logically structured, eliminate unnecessary repetition, identify gaps in storytelling and factual inaccuracies, and verify alignment between written content and visual execution to maintain the highest standards of editorial accuracy and book quality.
  • Collaborate closely with designers, illustrators, product and publishing teams, editors, reviewers, and relevant researchers or subject experts throughout the book development process. Actively participate in discussions, share ideas, ask questions, provide constructive feedback, review content, and refine work through multiple iterations. Ensure effective communication and teamwork at every stage rather than working in isolation, creating content that aligns with the shared creative vision and meets the highest standards of quality.
What We’re Looking For
  • Candidates should have 8–10 years of professional experience in children’s books, children’s publishing, or related child‑focused content, with proven expertise in writing and editing for diverse formats and age groups. They must demonstrate excellent command of English grammar, syntax, punctuation, vocabulary, and editorial best practices.
  • Strong storytelling and narrative development skills, with a deep understanding of child development, age‑appropriate language, and child behaviour, along with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to independently develop structured content from initial ideas or briefs, collaborate effectively with designers, illustrators, and publishing teams, incorporate feedback, iterate quickly, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience creating content across diverse children’s book formats, including storybooks, activity books, educational books, workbooks, nonfiction, and interactive publications, catering to different age groups.
  • Strong understanding of print publishing, visual storytelling, and page design, with hands‑on experience collaborating with creative teams to develop books from concept and manuscript through final artwork and production.
