Overview
The Senior Broadcast Engineer role involves hands-on field engineering, traveling for local and overseas projects, and delivering professional engineering work while supporting daily operations and project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Assist Engineering Manager to ensure the smooth running of daily Engineering Operations.
- Set up, configure, operate, and maintain electronic equipment used in outside broadcasting production, including HD and UHD video, audio, and communication equipment.
- Competent in the use of RF equipment and antenna systems.
- Troubleshoot broadcasting equipment to a system level and communicate with the office and manufacturers for problem-solving.
- Participate in technical and production meetings to plan, organize, and schedule work with interdisciplinary teams at offices and event locations.
- Conduct training for Assistant Broadcast Engineers and share knowledge with the team on broadcast equipment and technologies.
- Undertake project work from site surveys to delivery in a professional and timely manner.
- Keep equipment updated with the manufacturer’s latest software releases.
- Maintain technical equipment and systems to required safety and technical standards with minimal disruption to operations.
- Be willing to learn and practice new technologies used by NEP India/Group that may be unfamiliar.
- Direct, instruct, and manage assistant engineers and possible system integrators on projects.
- Draft technical reports of field work and read/design the engineering workflow.
- Prepare technical documents for project preparation and amend as necessary throughout the project lifecycle.
- Take responsibility for all work health and safety matters and comply with statutory safety requirements per NEP India Health and Safety Policies.
- Be flexible in work hours and travel frequently for local and overseas projects, and for any role/work assigned in the Engineering Department or within the NEP Group.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Live sports Broadcasting and related areas.
- Expert knowledge in Baseband Routing & Switching, especially Grass Valley & Sony equipment.
- Extensive knowledge of Broadcast IP environments including IP Video (SMPTE ST 2110) and IP-based Audio Routing (ST-2110-31), plus programming of Cisco & Arista switches.
- CCNA in Routing & Switching is preferred.
- Familiar with the operation and programming of routers, switchers, tally systems, multiviewers, and comms.
- Familiar with setup and integration of cameras, lenses, CCUs, etc.
- Experience with EVS equipment and EVS networking (EVS, X-File, X-Hub, IP Director, etc.).
- Experience with audio mixers and other audio-related equipment used in broadcast.
- Understanding of radio, television, and related transmission and carrier systems; knowledge of computers, servers, IT systems, and networks.
- A keen interest in broadcast technology, its development, and application in the region.
- Knowledge of Cisco switches and IP technology is an advantage.
