Job summary

Weekday 1 seeks a Senior Python Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems. You will work with Python 3.x, FastAPI/Flask, and relational databases, building robust, production-grade services at scale.

The role focuses on API design, OpenAPI specifications, and distributed systems. Expertise in Docker/Kubernetes and cloud deployment on GCP is essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on Python backend development.
• Proficient in Python 3.x and object-oriented software design.
• Extensive experience with FastAPI and/or Flask.
• Strong knowledge of SQLAlchemy ORM, sessions, and transactions.
• Solid understanding of multithreading, concurrency, async programming, and thread-safety.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and/or MySQL, including design, indexing, and performance tuning.
• Proven ability to design and develop REST APIs and work with OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Knowledge of microservices, distributed systems, scalability, and high-performance design.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience deploying apps on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Strong Git skills, code reviews, unit testing, debugging, and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications using Python 3.x.
