Job summary

Weekday AI is seeking an experienced Senior Python Backend Engineer to design and maintain scalable backend systems. You will focus on Python 3.x, FastAPI/Flask, and robust REST APIs, while ensuring performance and reliability across microservices.

Expertise with Docker, Kubernetes, and GCP is essential for building production-ready services. You will contribute to architecture decisions, optimize data access with SQLAlchemy ORM, and implement concurrent, thread-safe backend solutions at scale.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on Python backend development.
• Strong experience with Python 3.x and object-oriented design.
• Extensive hands-on experience with FastAPI and/or Flask.
• Strong experience with SQLAlchemy ORM, sessions, and DB transactions.
• Solid understanding of multithreading, concurrency, async programming and thread-safe apps.
• Proven experience with PostgreSQL and/or MySQL, including design and indexing.
• REST APIs design with OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Understanding of microservices, distributed systems, scalability and high-performance design.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience deploying on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Strong knowledge of Git, code reviews, unit testing, debugging and modern software practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications usingPython 3.x.
