Job summary

Keka Technologies Private Limited is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer – PostgreSQL with 8+ years of experience to design, optimize, and implement PostgreSQL solutions. You will build robust backend services using C#/.NET or Python, and collaborate across teams in a hybrid environment.

Responsibilities include REST and GraphQL API development with Hasura, performance tuning, testing, and thorough documentation of SQL routines and schemas.

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer – PostgreSQL with 8+ years of experience in relational databases and strong hands‑on expertise in PostgreSQL, C#/.NET or Python, GraphQL, and Hasura. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in database performance optimization, backend development, API integration, and troubleshooting complex database and backend issues.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and optimize PostgreSQL solutions including stored functions, triggers, views, complex joins, window functions, indexing, query plans, and partitioning.
• Build backend services using C#/.NET and Python, integrating with PostgreSQL while implementing transaction handling, error control, and concurrency management.
• Develop and maintain REST and GraphQL APIs using Hasura, with proper validations, structured responses, and PostgreSQL integration.
• Maintain database schemas, table designs, and relational structures while troubleshooting PostgreSQL performance, Hasura metadata, GraphQL behavior, and backend API issues.
• Develop unit, integration, and database tests while documenting SQL routines, backend logic, and GraphQL schema structures.

What We Seek In You

• 8+ years of experience with relational databases and deep expertise in PostgreSQL, including PL/pgSQL functions, stored routines, triggers, window functions, query tuning, and indexing strategies.
• Strong understanding of PostgreSQL locking, deadlocks, concurrency, and isolation levels, with hands‑on experience in database performance optimization.
• 5+ years of backend application development experience using C#/.NET or Python.
• 2+ years of hands‑on experience with GraphQL and Hasura on PostgreSQL, along with strong understanding of REST API design and backend architecture.
• Strong object‑oriented programming, clean coding, Git, and standard development workflow practices.
• Strong debugging and problem‑solving skills for SQL and backend issues, with good communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ETL workflows using Python, dbt, or Azure Data Factory.
• Exposure to Redis, MongoDB, or messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Azure Service Bus.
• Familiarity with Azure cloud components used alongside backend applications.
• Certifications in PostgreSQL, backend development, or cloud platforms.
