Role Summary
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with strong hands‑on expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, distributed systems, microservices, and AWS cloud technologies.
The engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, scaling, and supporting highly available backend services and APIs for customer‑facing applications. The role requires strong ownership of backend architecture, application performance, production reliability, security, observability, and cloud‑native engineering practices.
Experience with React frontend development and/or Java/Spring Boot is beneficial but not mandatory.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Node.js and TypeScript.
- Build reliable, secure, and highly available microservice‑based and distributed applications.
- Design and implement efficient data models and access patterns using Amazon DynamoDB.
- Build cloud‑native and event‑driven backend solutions using AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, S3, SQS, API Gateway, and CloudWatch.
- Develop asynchronous processing workflows, background jobs, integrations, and messaging‑based architectures.
- Define backend architecture, service boundaries, API contracts, data flows, and relationships between distributed components.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex customer‑facing and production issues across backend services and cloud infrastructure.
- Proactively identify and address issues related to performance, scalability, stability, security, availability, and extensibility.
- Participate actively in architecture discussions, technical design reviews, and code reviews.
- Ensure backend services meet defined standards for performance, reliability, security, maintainability, and quality.
- Write automated unit, integration, API, and service‑level tests.
- Monitor and troubleshoot production applications using logs, metrics, traces, dashboards, and alerts.
- Maintain high availability and demonstrate strong ownership of customer trust and production reliability.
- Support and improve CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, containerization, and deployment processes.
- Collaborate with product managers, quality engineers, architects, and globally distributed engineering teams.
- Take end‑to‑end ownership of backend features throughout the complete software development lifecycle, from technical design and implementation through deployment and production support.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to backend engineering standards, development practices, and architectural guidelines.
