Job summary

TVS Srichakra seeks an experienced automation engineer to independently execute PLC/HMI/SCADA and MES implementation activities for tyre manufacturing operations. You will lead machine integration, documentation, testing and production stabilization across sites.

Role covers FAT/SAT, interface testing and data-flow validation, with coordination across MES vendors and plant teams. Expertise in Siemens/Allen-Bradley platforms and OT networks is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in tyre manufacturing operations is mandatory.
• End-to-end MES implementation experience in a manufacturing environment.
• PLC-SCADA-MES integration and shop-floor machine connectivity.
• Preparation of functional requirements, process logic and test documents.
• Coordination with MES vendors, system integrators and cross-functional plant teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify and troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs for machine automation and MES interfacing.
• Maintain SCADA/HMI applications, including alarms, trends, data logging and production dashboards.
• Configure and troubleshoot OT networks and industrial communication interfaces.
• Integrate PLCs, machines, sensors and other shop-floor devices with SCADA and MES.
• Coordinate with MES vendors, machine suppliers, IT, OT and plant teams for implementation.
• Support MES configuration for production monitoring, material tracking, traceability and downtime reporting.
• Define data flow from machine/PLC through SCADA to MES and validate it.
• Execute FAT, SAT, interface testing, UAT and commissioning.
• Troubleshoot PLC-SCADA-MES communication and data-quality issues.
• Train plant users and provide post-implementation technical support.

Job description

JOB PURPOSE

To independently execute PLC, HMI/SCADA, OT network and MES implementation activities, including shop-floor machine integration, requirement documentation, solution coordination, testing, commissioning and production stabilization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop, modify and troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs for machine automation and MES interfacing.
• Maintain SCADA/HMI applications, including alarms, trends, data logging and production dashboards.
• Configure and troubleshoot OT networks and industrial communication interfaces.
• Integrate PLCs, machines, sensors, barcode readers, weighing systems and other shop-floor devices with SCADA and MES.
• Gather process requirements and prepare functional requirements, process logic, tag lists and interface documents.
• Coordinate with MES vendors, machine suppliers, IT, OT and plant teams for implementation.
• Support MES configuration for production monitoring, material tracking, traceability, genealogy, downtime and OEE.
• Define and validate data flow from the machine and PLC layer through SCADA or middleware to MES.
• Execute FAT, SAT, interface testing, user acceptance testing, commissioning and production stabilization.
• Troubleshoot PLC-SCADA-MES communication and data-quality issues.
• Maintain system architecture, network, device, interface and commissioning documentation.
• Train plant users and provide post-implementation technical support.

Technical Skills:

Siemens PLC programming is compulsory; exposure to Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Delta or equivalent PLC platforms is preferred.

HMI / SCADA

Siemens WinCC, Ignition, AVEVA InTouch, Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk View or equivalent.

OT Network

Industrial Ethernet, PROFINET, OPC UA, Modbus TCP/IP, EtherNet/IP and MQTT.

MES

Siemens Opcenter, Ignition MES, AVEVA MES, FactoryTalk Production Centre or any other MES platform. Database Microsoft

Knowledge of SQL Server for Database connection.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Mandatory experience and sound process knowledge in tyre manufacturing operations.
• End-to-end MES implementation in a manufacturing environment.
• PLC-SCADA-MES integration and shop-floor machine connectivity.
• Preparation of functional requirements, process logic, interface specifications and test documents.
• Coordination with MES vendors, system integrators and cross-functional plant teams.
• Basic knowledge of SAP-MES interfaces and industrial cybersecurity.
• Commercial awareness, including scope review, quotation evaluation and coordination with suppliers.
• Contractor and workmen coordination during installation, commissioning and production support.
• Working knowledge of industrial safety requirements, safe work practices and permit compliance.
• Awareness of applicable electrical standards, codes and good engineering practices.

The selected candidate will lead the execution of our Rudrapur Plant in Uttrakhand MES project for the first 2 years and will subsequently relocate to the Central Projects Team at Madurai for long-term project and automation initiatives.
