Job description

Position Overview

Senior Associate, Program Operations – part of the State Management Project Unit (SPMU) Country team reporting to the National Lead. The role focuses on SPMU‑level activities, including budget tracking, financial planning, monthly and quarterly reporting, and coordination with global and local stakeholders for the Jharkhand State Project.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the annual planning and budgeting exercise for the SPMU, coordinating with state and partner departments.
• Generate pre‑work and background documents, coordinate information collation, and build budgets with program team leads.
• Track financial performance: input data into the Outlook system, conduct monthly budget‑vs‑actual reviews, and present findings to management.
• Identify and report deviations in budget utilization to the Program Director Operations.
• Compile Quarterly Progress Reports, Annual Progress Reports, and monthly MIU updates.
• Support the National Lead in preparing PRs, QPRs, donor reports, and other documentation.
• Facilitate additional requests from the Global Office and development team.
• Attend internal meetings, workshops, and external engagements as required.
• Conduct field visits to SPMU interventions and literacy program sites in coordination with the Line Manager.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in education, social sciences, social work, management, consulting, or related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in program management or related roles.
• Strong knowledge of early‑grade reading/literacy programs in India and internationally.
• Excellent managerial, interpersonal, and mentoring skills.
• Proficient written and oral communication abilities.
• Training or knowledge in linguistics is an added advantage.
• Passion for the organization’s mission and ability to drive impact in a dynamic non‑profit setting.
