Job summary

Room to Read India is seeking an Associate in Delhi to advance the Girls’ Education and Gender Equality Program (GEP) across direct implementation and scale-up models. The role requires strong expertise in gender, life skills and girls’ education, and the ability to work across diverse state contexts.

You will lead program design, quality systems, strategic planning and ensure coherence across interventions while coordinating with internal teams and government partners.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in education, social work, development studies, gender or related social sciences.
• 3+ years of relevant NGO/INGO experience in secondary education, girls’ education, gender or school development.
• Experience developing training modules, conducting training courses and managing events.
• Experience collaborating with government, teachers and reviewing government programmes.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English and Hindi.
• Ability to travel frequently (approximately 40% field travel).

Responsibilities

• Lead implementation oversight of the assigned state(s) to meet benchmarks and resolve bottlenecks with Program Operations and State Teams.
• Ensure timely analysis of data, dashboards and reports to improve implementation.
• Develop and deliver life skills program materials for various model types and support content development of digital/text products.
• Support standards, checklists and quality parameters; lead discussions on program quality with State teams.
• Participate in research activities including baseline studies and donor reporting; interface with external stakeholders.
• Provide capacity-building support to States on specific themes and facilitate training/workshops.

The Associate at the Room to Read India Country Office in Delhi will play a critical role in advancing the Girls’ Education and Gender Equality Program (GEP) across direct implementation and scale‑up models. The role requires strong expertise in gender, life skills and girls’ education, and the ability to work across diverse program models and state contexts. Responsibilities include program design, quality systems strengthening, strategic planning and ensuring coherence and quality across interventions.

Responsibilities

• Lead implementation oversight of the assigned state(s), ensuring programs meet agreed benchmarks and resolve bottlenecks in collaboration with the Program Operations and State Teams.
• Ensure timely analysis of data, dashboards and reports, using insights to close feedback loops and improve implementation.
• Develop, contextualise and deliver life skills program materials for various model types and support the GEP team in content development of digital and text‑based products.
• Support the creation of standards, checklists and quality parameters; lead discussions on program quality with State teams.
• Participate in research activities, including baseline studies, action research and donor reporting, and interface with external stakeholders.
• Provide capacity‑building support to States on specific themes and facilitate training and workshops.
• Prepare and present program notes, status updates and presentations for internal and government meetings.
• Coordinate with other departments for resource requisition, logistics, translations and budget tracking; contribute to the budgeting process for the Girls Education Program.
• Partner with Research Monitoring & Evaluation to enhance monitoring mechanisms and design new ones as needed.
• Assist People Operations with interview panels or role expectation revisions as required.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in education, social work, development studies, gender or related social sciences.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in an NGO/INGO, working in secondary education, girls’ education, gender or school development.
• Experience developing training modules, conducting training courses and managing events.
• Experience collaborating with government, teachers and reviewing government programmes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi.
• Ability to travel frequently and spend significant time in the field (approximately 40% field travel).
• Preferred: prior experience living/working in rural areas; prior work with schools, teachers and government officials.
