Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) is seeking a skilled valuation professional in Gurugram to work within AIS. You will value assets in equity and credit portfolios, engage in complex model development, and support reporting and client deliverables across multiple engagements.

The role emphasizes rigorous financial analysis, disciplined due diligence, and proactive communication with onshore teams. Experience with illiquid investments is preferred.

Qualifications

• 3-8 years of relevant experience in valuation, portfolio valuation, transaction advisory, or a related financial services environment.
• Solid command of core valuation methodologies and corporate finance concepts; comfortable with both the technical and the judgement calls.
• Demonstrated experience building and reviewing financial models involving private and illiquid investments.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills - detail-oriented without losing sight of the bigger picture.
• Proven ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously without letting quality slip; clear communicator for senior onshore counterparts.
• Track record of reviewing work products and developing junior professionals.

Responsibilities

• Valuing assets inside equity and credit investment portfolios for various regulatory, financial, and accounting reporting contexts.
• Engage in sophisticated valuation engagements including non-performing and performing loans, preferred and common equity.
• Conduct research on securities, industry, market, and competitors to support valuation conclusions.
• Build and update financial models using DCF, guideline company, and precedent transactions approaches; include options pricing and yields.
• Review models and valuation analyses for accuracy through quality control checks.
• Provide due diligence and maintain client documentation for model building and deliverables.
• Maintain strong client relationships through effective project management and clear communication across teams.
• Contribute to preparation, creation, and review of client reports and deliverables.

The Team

A&M's Alternative Investment Services (AIS) practice works with some of the most sophisticated participants in private markets - private equity funds, hedge funds, private credit managers, business development companies, and financial institutions - on complex portfolio valuation assignments spanning the full breadth of illiquid and alternative investment structures. This role is based in A&M's Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Gurugram and is directly integrated with the US-based AIS team. You will work on live client engagements as an active contributor to valuation execution, model review, and delivery management across multiple concurrent mandates - not in a peripheral support capacity.

How You Will Contribute

You will be valuing assets inside equity and credit investment portfolios for a variety of circumstances including regulatory compliance for investment, financial, and accounting reporting. You will have the opportunity to get involved in sophisticated valuation engagements covering a variety of securities such as non-performing and performing loans, preferred and common equity.

Some Of The Main Responsibilities Are

• Conducting relevant research on securities, industry, market, and competitors
• Building and updating financial models using discounted cash flow analyses, guideline company and guideline precedent transactions approaches. Additional modeling through options pricing models and yield analyses
• Reviewing and ensuring the accuracy of financial models and valuation analyses through exercising quality control reviews
• Conducting due diligence and maintaining client documentation for use in model building and deliverables
• Building and maintaining effective control processes to monitor and track changes to the assumptions of valuation models
• Contributing to the preparation, creation, and review of reports and other deliverables for clients
• Building strong relationships with clients through exceptional day-to-day project management, coordination, and execution
• Proactively communicating efficiently and effectively to all levels of the engagement team
