Job summary

Alvarez & Marsal in Gurgaon/Bangalore is seeking a Senior Associate to join the Energy team. You will lead engagements across O&G, Chemicals, Mining, and Power & Utilities, delivering end-to-end analysis and transformation programs.

You will mentor junior staff, manage client relationships, and contribute to business development and practice growth, applying strong modelling and executive communication.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree from a Tier-1 institution with strong academics.
• 3–6 years in top-tier consulting/advisory or relevant industry roles.
• Deep expertise in at least one Energy sub-sector (O&G, Chemicals, Mining, or Power & Utilities).
• Leadership in managing engagements end-to-end with client interaction.
• Strong financial and operational modelling for business cases.
• Exceptional executive communication and stakeholder facilitation.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements concurrently and deliver under deadlines.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; hands-on with Alteryx, Power BI, Python.

Responsibilities

The Team

Alvarez & Marsal’s Energy team works with global companies across Oil & Gas, Renewables, Mining, Power & Utilities and Chemical sub-sectors to provide independent analysis and end-to-end support across business transformation programs. Pulling from Alvarez & Marsal’s restructuring heritage, A&M’s Energy Group combines the best of A&M’s bias toward action and practicality with deep industry experience as both consultants and operators. Our Business Transformation practice is rapidly expanding in the GCC, and we are looking for a Senior Associate to join our Gurgaon/Bangalore team. This role offers the opportunity to leverage your business insight, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities as part of a hands-on, high-impact team. You will work on projects across A&M’s global offices, covering the full project lifecycle, including market analysis, growth strategy development, operational improvement, and financial performance enhancement, to deliver measurable results for our clients.

How you will contribute

As a member of the Energy team, you will play a senior role in client delivery, team leadership, and practice growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Client Engagement & Account Management :
• - Manage senior client and internal stakeholder relationships at engagement or workstream level;
• Lead client discussions, workshops, and meetings, including interactions with senior leadership
• Communicate progress, risks, and recommendations clearly and confidently to senior audiences
• Support business development activities, including pitch preparation and proposal contributions in the Energy sector
• Lead the development and delivery of Energy solutions across O&G, Chemicals, Mining, and Power & Utilities
• Structure complex problem statements and translate ambiguous client issues into actionable workplans o Manage multiple medium-to-high complexity workstreams, ensuring end-to-end delivery and timely accomplishment of milestones
• Synthesize analytical outputs into executive-ready insights and recommendations
• Coordinate cross-functional and cross-border teams to meet deadlines and project objectives
• Actively mentor and guide Senior Associates and junior team members in analytical approaches, client interaction, and deliverable development
• Contribute to training, knowledge-sharing sessions, recruitment, and capability-building initiatives within the Energy practice
• Collaborate with teams to deliver high-quality client outputs while fostering learning and development opportunities
• Actively contribute to the growth of the Energy practice through pitch preparation, marketing, and client relationship efforts
• Participate in practice-level initiatives to enhance service offerings and build new Energy-sector products and tools

Qualifications

• Educational: Graduate degree from a Tier-1 institution with strong academic credentials
• 3 to 6 years of experience in top-tier consulting/ advisory firms or relevant industry roles (strategy, restructuring, performance improvement, analytics, or operational consulting)
• Deep expertise in at least one Energy sub-sector (O&G Upstream/Downstream, Chemicals, Mining, or Power & Utilities), with the ability to rapidly apply insights across adjacent sub-sectors
• Demonstrated leadership in managing engagements end-to-end, including scoping, workplan design, team management, and client communication
• Advanced hypothesis-driven problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to frame ambiguous client issues, translate them into structured analyses, and drive clear executive-level outcomes
• Strong financial and operational modelling expertise, supporting business cases and executive decision-making
• Exceptional executive communication and presence, including facilitation of senior-level discussions, negotiation of scope and recommendations, and development of high-impact, client-ready presentations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple engagements concurrently, prioritize effectively, and deliver under tight deadlines and evolving client expectations
• High standards of professional integrity, judgment, and discretion, with the confidence to challenge clients constructively and communicate difficult messages clearly
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with preferred hands-on experience in Alteryx, Power BI, and Python
• A strong team player with demonstrated ability to motivate and develop team members
