Job summary

Ascendion is seeking a Technical Accounting Specialist in Vadodara to reinforce the global finance team. The role focuses on accurate revenue accounting for multi-element contracts, with emphasis on ASC 606 and Ind AS 115 compliance.

You will collaborate with Sales, Legal, and Business Operations to ensure correct accounting treatment, prepare technical memos, and support statutory reporting. On-site responsibilities align with the local finance operations.

Qualifications

• CA with professional accounting designation.
• 3–4 years progressive accounting experience, preferably with Big 4 or industry exposure.
• Solid knowledge of ASC 606, Ind AS 115 / IFRS 15 and US GAAP.

Responsibilities

• Review contracts with software, services, and licensing to determine revenue recognition under ASC 606 and Ind AS 115.
• Apply five-step revenue recognition model to new/modified contracts and determine performance obligations and transaction price.
• Prepare technical accounting memos and policies; support SOX/ICFR controls and financial reporting.
• Coordinate with internal/external auditors and assist in monthly/quarterly close related to deferred revenue and contract balances.

Title: Senior Associate

Location: Vadodara, Gujarat (On site)

Shifts: 11 am to 8 pm / 12 pm to 9 pm IST

Work days: Monday to Friday

About The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Technical Accounting Specialist to join our global finance team. The role will support accurate and compliant accounting for complex revenue transactions, with a strong focus on US GAAP (ASC 606) and Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS 115).

Revenue Recognition & Contract Review

• Review complex, multi-element customer contracts involving software, services and licensing components, and document the appropriate revenue recognition treatment under ASC 606 and Ind AS 115.


• Apply the five-step revenue recognition model to new and modified contracts, including identification of performance obligations, determination of transaction price and allocation of consideration.


• Partner with Sales, Legal and Business Operations teams on deal structures and product offerings to support appropriate accounting and financial reporting outcomes. Technical Accounting & Policy


• Research and document conclusions on technical accounting matters, including business combinations, leases and impairment, under US GAAP and Ind AS.


• Prepare and maintain technical accounting memos, policies and procedures to support consistent application of accounting standards.


• Support statutory financial statement preparation and reconciliation of key accounting metrics between US GAAP and Ind AS.

Financial Close, Audit & Compliance

• Support monthly, quarterly and annual close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations for deferred revenue, contract assets and contract liabilities.


• Coordinate with internal and external auditors, providing supporting documentation and explanations for revenue and complex accounting positions.


• Maintain effective internal controls and support compliance with SOX and ICFR requirements across revenue recognition and technical accounting processes.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Chartered Accountant (CA)


• Experience: 3-4 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably combining Big 4 public accounting and/or relevant industry exposure.


• Technical expertise: Practical knowledge of ASC 606, Ind AS 115 / IFRS 15, US GAAP and Ind AS.


• Systems: Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle or NetSuite
