Job summary

Roboyo is seeking an experienced Senior Application QA to join our Quality Engineering team, supporting a major UK Financial Services client. You will own testing strategies, build automation, and collaborate across the SDLC to deliver robust, scalable software on the Appian platform.

As a Senior QA, you will work with Product Owners, Developers, and DevOps to design tests, implement automation, and drive quality across releases.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Software Testing or Quality Engineering.

About the role:

We areseekingan experienced and hands-on Senior Application QA to join our growing Quality Engineering team supporting a major UK Financial Services client.

This roleis responsible forensuring the quality of enterprise applications developed using the Appian platform through a combination of manual testing, automation, quality engineeringpracticesand collaboration across the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

As a Senior QA, you will work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Developers, DevOpsEngineersand Business Stakeholders to deliver robust,reliableand high-quality software. You will contribute to the design and execution of testing strategies, build andmaintainautomation frameworks, participate in release activities, and help continuously improve our overall quality engineering capability.

This is a highly hands-on role requiring excellent technical skills, strong analyticalthinkingand a proactive approach to quality.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Engineering & Test Strategy

• Contribute to the definition and continuous improvement of QA strategy, testingstandardsand quality engineering practices.
• Promote Shift-Left testing byparticipatingin requirements analysis, backlogrefinementand solution design sessions.
• Review business and technical requirements to ensure they are testable and complete.
• Identifyquality risks early and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Support the establishment and maintenance of quality gates throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Manual Testing

• Design, prepare and execute comprehensive manual test cases and test scenarios.
• Perform:
• Functional Testing
• Integration Testing
• System Testing
• End-to-End Testing
• Regression Testing
• User Acceptance Testing (UAT) support
• Exploratory Testing
• Smoke and Sanity Testing
• Validate business processes,workflowsand application behaviour.
• Ensure all testing evidence is accurately recorded.

API & Integration Testing

• Validate RESTful APIs and system integrations.
• Perform request and response validation.
• Verify authentication,authorisationand error handling.
• Support testing of integrations between Appian and third-party platforms.
• Analyse logs and API responses to support troubleshooting and defect investigation.

Test Planning & Delivery

• Participate in Sprint Planning, backlogrefinementand estimation sessions.
• Prepare test plans, testscenariosand execution schedules.
• Estimate testing effort for new functionality.
• Maintain full traceability between requirements, testcasesand defects.
• Support delivery planning across multiple releases.
• Identify,documentand manage software defects throughout their lifecycle.
• Perform root cause analysis alongside development teams.
• Validate defect fixes and regression impacts.
• Ensure defectscontainsufficient evidence for efficient investigation.
• Monitor defect trends and recommend process improvements.

CI/CD & DevOps

• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Execute automated smoke tests following deployments.
• Support release validation activities.
• Help improve deployment quality through automation.

Production & Release Support

• Participate in release readiness activities.
• Support investigation of production incidents.
• Assistwith root cause analysis and hotfix validation.
• Support production release sign-off whereappropriate.
• Prepare andmaintainappropriate testdata.
• Coordinate environment readiness for testing activities.
• Ensure data integrity throughout testing.

Non-Functional Testing Support

Support and contribute to:

Working alongside specialist teams whererequired.

Agile Delivery

• Collaborate with cross-functional delivery teams.
• Provide regular updates on testing progress and quality risks.

• Contribute to QA standards and documentation.
• Share knowledge and best practices across the team.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in Software Testing or Quality Engineering.
• Strong experience across the complete Software Testing Lifecycle (STLC).
• Proven experience developing automation frameworks from scratch.
• Experience using Cucumber and Behaviour Driven Development (BDD).
• API testing experience using Postman or equivalent.
• Practical experience testing Appian applications.
• Experience with the Appian Test Framework.
• Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Git,GitHubor similar version control systems.
• Experience with Jenkins, GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps Pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies.
• Experience using JIRA, AzureDevOpsor similar test management tools.
• Strong understanding of SDLC and STLC.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
• Experience working within Financial Services.
• Knowledge of UK regulatory and compliance environments.
• Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter.
• SQL and database testing experience.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS).
• Accessibility testing knowledge (WCAG).
• Experience with Docker or Kubernetes.

• ISTQB Foundation or Advanced Certification.
