Job summary

Woodward India Private Limited seeks a senior mechanical engineer to lead site surveys, retrofit installations, and supervision of piping modifications for actuator and trip systems. You will ensure safe, efficient installations and prepare drawings that align with existing piping layouts.

The role emphasizes collaboration with sales and cross-functional teams, plus technical leadership and mentorship of junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Design and develop complex mechanical systems and components.
• Maintain and design process piping arrangements.
• Hands-on experience with actuator and trip systems.
• Knowledge of control systems for actuators.
• Renovation and modernization studies for existing equipment and retrofits.
• Create detailed designs/drawings from general equipment arrangements.
• Proficient in isometric drawing preparation for fuel, liquid, and air systems.
• Experienced with Creo and AutoCAD for 3D modelling and drafting.
• Knowledge of piping and welding testing (RFI, ultrasound, NDT).
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage projects.

Responsibilities

• Site Survey for gas/liquid/air skids and retrofit challenges.
• Interpret site piping to produce demolition drawings and markups.
• Engage with customers during site execution and capture requirements.
• Support Sales with mechanical retrofit solutions for Woodward actuators and trip solenoids.
• Supervise installation and modification work for actuators and trip solenoids.
• Prepare site-specific drawings considering existing piping and installation options.
• Finalize testing requirements during site installation.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate mechanical solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and ensure adherence to standards.
• Lead small to mid-size projects, coordinating resources and timelines.
• Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge to raise team capability.
• Work with stakeholders to drive project outcomes across multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Site Survey: For Gas /Liquid / Air Skids and understanding installation and commissioning challenges for retrofitting.
• Understand piping arrangement from site so that demolishing drawings and markups can be creating.
• Customer Engagement: Engage with customers during site execution and understanding their requirements.
• Sales Support: Supporting Sales for generating Mechanical retrofit solutions for Woodward Actuators and Trip Solenoid.
• Site Execution: Installation of Project specific JB, Supervision of Piping arrangement modification work for installing new Actuators and Trip Solenoids, Supervision of installation of custom skids, Supervise and guide the team for any adjustment required during installation based on site conditions.
• Execution: Selection for Woodward Parts based on data collected during site survey and preparing site specify drawings for site installation, considering existing piping arrangements and installation options at site.
• Finalizing testing requirements during site installation.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partners with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate mechanical engineering solutions into broader organizational initiatives and projects.
• Technical Leadership: Guides the design and implementation of complex application systems, ensuring adherence to best practices and architectural standards.
• Project Management: Leads small to medium sized engineering projects, coordinating resources and timelines to achieve project objectives.
• Advanced Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves intricate technical challenges by analysing multiple information sources and applying innovative solutions.
• Mentorship and Support: Acts as a resource for junior engineers, providing guidance, training, and knowledge sharing to enhance team expertise.
• Cross Team Collaboration: Partners with internal and external stakeholders to build consensus and drive successful outcomes across multiple projects.

Key Skills

• Expertise in designing and developing complex mechanical systems and components.

• Sound knowledge of control systems used for controlling actuators
• Hands on experience in making renovation and modernization studies, for the existing equipment and proposing revamps and retrofits of Gas / Liquid Fuel system
• Proven expertise in generating detailed design/drawing from general arrangement of equipment’s and achieving time bound work
• Strong knowledge of isometric drawing preparation and design for fuel, liquid, and air handling systems is required.
• Familiarity with Creo and AutoCAD for 3D modelling and drafting is highly preferred.
• Profound knowledge in piping and welding testing requirements. (RFI, Ultrasound, NDT)
• Expertise in primary and related technical domains, adept with a range of technologies.
• Complex Problem Solving: Ability to solve sophisticated technical issues through analytical judgment.
• Project Management: Skilled in leading and managing small to medium sized projects from inception to completion.
• Independent Work Ethic: Demonstrates the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
