Bounteous in Chennai is seeking a Senior Android Engineer to join a high-impact mobile product rebuild for Android from the ground up, alongside a parallel iOS build. You will own end-to-end feature areas, from API integration to shipped UI, collaborating with the Android Lead to establish core patterns.

Qualifications

About the work

A large consumer-facing mobile product is being rebuilt as a native Android application from a clean slate, alongside a parallel native iOS build.

The role

You are a senior engineer on the Android team, working alongside the Android Lead. You implement significant feature areas end to end and help establish the patterns the codebase will live with.

What you will own

• Feature areas from API integration through to shipped Compose UI, including tests
• Local persistence and caching with Room and DataStore
• Networking integration using generated clients from the shared API specification
• The Android test suite: unit tests, Flow tests, Compose UI tests, and instrumentation for critical paths
• Accessibility and adaptive layout behavior across phone, tablet and foldable form factors
• Crash triage, performance investigation, and release support

Required

• 5+ years of native Android development in Kotlin, with shipped applications you can point to
• Jetpack Compose in production, including state hoisting, side effects and an understanding of what causes recomposition
• Coroutines and Flow, including testing asynchronous code (Turbine or equivalent)
• Google's recommended architecture in practice: ViewModel, StateFlow, unidirectional data flow, repository pattern
• Hilt, Room, DataStore, and Retrofit or Ktor with kotlinx.serialization
• Gradle in a multi-module project, with Kotlin DSL and version catalogs
• Testing discipline: JUnit, MockK, Compose UI testing; you write tests as you build, not afterwards
• Secure handling of sensitive user data: Keystore-backed storage, biometric authentication, awareness of what must never reach logs or third-party analytics

Preferred

• Navigation 3 experience.
• Adaptive and large-screen UI work — tablets, foldables, window size classes
• Experience consuming generated API clients from an OpenAPI specification
• Push notification and deep link handling
• Profiling and performance work with Android Studio tooling and Macrobenchmark
• Accessibility work with TalkBack and large font scaling
