Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead load forecasting and demand-supply analysis for a North India power utility.

• Engage in power trading activities and understand energy exchanges and market products.
• Provide descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics using Excel, Python, and Power BI.

A. About the Role:

The candidate would be part of team managing the energy portfolio management project of a power utility in North India in the capacity of co-lead of the project. The ideal candidate shall have good understanding of grid monitoring, load forecasting, schedule optimization and power procurement/sale (trading) including associated regulations. In additions, the candidate is also expected to deliver high quality outputs in the form of reports utilizing MS Office Suite (mainly Word, Excel (Advanced) and Power Point). The key responsibilities of this role will include the following:

B. Detailed expectations from the role:

• Load forecasting: The candidate shall have experience of load forecasting for power utilities in India. He / She shall possess fair understanding of parameters impacting demand patterns in different scenarios.
• Power Scheduling & Optimization: Sound regulatory as well as technical competence is expected from the candidate in the field of power scheduling and its optimization through standard practices.
• Power Procurement: The candidate shall have expertise in the power procurement and associated regulatory provisions.
• Trading: The candidate must have hands on experience of power trading in power utilities through various modes like energy exchanges etc. along-with the available market products for the same.
• Analytics: The candidate is expected to provide Descriptive, Diagnostic, Predictive, Prescriptive analytics using state of the start IT based products including MS Excel (Advanced), Python etc. in the form of creative and aesthetic outputs in the form of MS Word-MS Power Point-Power BI etc.
• Client Support: Supporting the Client in activities related to energy trading as well as associated metrics as per requirement.
• Must be open to working in Consulting environment.

C. Required skill set

• At least 4 years of experience in power distribution/utility sector - Experience in Energy/Power Portfolio Management projects with understanding of Grid Monitoring, Load Forecasting, Scheduling Optimization Power Procurement, Power Trading and allied IT based solutions.
• Excellent communication skill and proficiency in at least MS Word/PPT/Excel (Advanced).
• Knowledge of regulatory matters as well as regulations associated with power portfolio and its management is required.
• Previous experience of working in consulting environment would be a plus.
• Candidate worked in Energy Trading & Risk Management profile would be a plus.
• Candidate worked in DISCOMs would be a plus.
• The candidate having hands on experience in using SaaS solutions in power sector especially DISCOMs etc. would be a plus.
• Knowledge of Python, GAMS etc. for power portfolio optimization would be a plus.

D. Education and Experience

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering/IT/Computers/Management/Power Management/Economics.
• At least 4 years experience

E. Location

• Base location shall be Dehradun. However, the candidate may be required to travel anywhere in India.
