Job Description

The Analysis Engineer performs advanced structural and thermomechanical simulations to support product design and validation. This role focuses on preparing finite element models, running complex load cases, interpreting results, and providing clear technical reports that guide design decisions and ensure compliance with test requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare simulation-ready geometry and finite element models from CAD data, ensuring accurate representation of components and assemblies.
  • Build and refine finite element meshes, applying appropriate mesh controls and performing mesh-convergence checks to validate solution quality.
  • Execute load cases involving torque, axial and vertical loads, lever forces, bolt preload, snap fits, and magnet retention to evaluate structural performance.
  • Perform linear and nonlinear structural analysis using ANSYS Mechanical and Workbench, including complex contact and large-deformation problems.
  • Conduct buckling, fatigue, creep, wear, and thermomechanical simulations to assess durability and reliability under various operating conditions.
  • Run drop, shock, impact, and slam simulations using an explicit solver to evaluate product behavior under dynamic and transient loading.
  • Define materials, contacts, loads, boundary conditions, and analysis settings to ensure realistic and robust simulation models.
  • Extract and interpret stress, strain, deformation, contact pressure, reaction force, and fatigue-life results from simulations.
  • Compare simulation results with test requirements and specifications, identifying gaps and recommending design improvements.
  • Prepare clear, detailed technical reports that document analysis methods, assumptions, results, and conclusions for engineering stakeholders.
  • Implement feedback from technical reviews to refine models and analyses, and support design-comparison studies between alternative concepts.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to troubleshoot issues, validate simulation assumptions, and ensure alignment between analysis and physical testing.
Essential Skills
  • Strong proficiency in ANSYS Mechanical and Workbench for structural analysis.
  • Solid understanding of structural finite element analysis (FEA) principles and engineering fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with nonlinear contact and large-deformation analysis in FEA.
  • Knowledge of fatigue analysis, preferably using ANSYS nCode DesignLife or similar tools.
  • Exposure to ANSYS LS-DYNA or another explicit-dynamics solver for impact and transient simulations.
  • Understanding of thermal analysis, buckling, plasticity, and material behavior under different loading conditions.
  • Experience working with plastics, metals, joints, and mechanical assemblies in simulation models.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve modeling and convergence issues.
  • Effective documentation skills to create clear, structured analysis reports and technical summaries.
  • Good communication skills to present results and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience conducting fatigue-life assessments and durability studies for mechanical components.
  • Background in thermomechanical analysis combining thermal and structural effects.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and test requirements related to structural performance and durability.
  • Ability to support design-comparison studies and provide data-driven recommendations.
  • Attention to detail in defining materials, contacts, and boundary conditions for accurate simulations.
Work Environment
