Job summary

Persistent is seeking a Senior AI/ML Engineer to design, build, and deploy advanced AI solutions for mobile, embedded, and edge devices. You will lead multimodal AI initiatives combining vision, audio, and sensor data to enable contextual decisions and real-time processing.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across AI, Platform, Device and Mobile engineering to optimize models for latency, power, and scalability, while staying current with AI innovations.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of experience in AI/ML, Computer Vision or related engineering disciplines.
• Strong programming expertise in Python and C++.
• Production experience delivering AI/ML solutions for mobile, embedded, or edge devices.
• Hands-on CV skills: Object Detection, Tracking, Classification, Segmentation, Video Analytics.
• Experience with Audio AI: ASR, audio classification, noise suppression.
• Experience building multimodal AI systems with sensor data.
• Knowledge of sensor fusion and contextual AI architectures.
• Familiarity with PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX and similar frameworks.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills in cross-functional teams.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior AI/ML Engineer with deep expertise in Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence, Audio AI, and Edge AI technologies. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying intelligent AI solutions across mobile, embedded, and edge environments. This role requires hands-on experience in building multimodal AI systems that combine vision, audio, sensor data, and contextual intelligence to solve complex business and real-world challenges. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver scalable, high-performance AI solutions for enterprise and edge computing platforms.

What You'll Do:

• Design and develop advanced Physical AI solutions for mobile, edge, and embedded platforms.
• Build intelligent AI systems capable of understanding environments using camera, audio, sensor, and contextual inputs.
• Develop and optimize Computer Vision models for object detection, object tracking, image classification, semantic segmentation, activity recognition, video analytics, and scene understanding.
• Design and implement Audio AI solutions including speech recognition, speaker recognition, audio classification, sound event detection, and noise suppression.
• Build multimodal AI systems that combine visual, audio, and sensor data to enable intelligent decision-making.
• Design and implement sensor fusion solutions using cameras, microphones, IMU sensors, GPS, and additional device signals.
• Optimize AI inference pipelines for low-latency, real-time execution on edge devices.
• Deploy and optimize AI models for mobile devices, embedded platforms, and specialized AI accelerators.
• Develop scalable AI/ML pipelines for training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
• Collaborate closely with AI, Platform, Device, Camera, Audio, and Mobile Engineering teams.
• Conduct model performance analysis and continuously improve accuracy, latency, scalability, and power efficiency.
• Implement AI model optimization techniques including quantization, pruning, compression, and hardware acceleration.
• Participate in solution architecture, technical design reviews, and AI innovation initiatives.
• Support production deployments and ongoing improvements for enterprise AI systems.
• Stay updated with emerging AI, Computer Vision, Audio AI, and Edge AI technologies and trends.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• 10 to 15 years of experience in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, or related engineering disciplines.
• Strong programming expertise in Python and C++.
• Extensive experience developing AI and Machine Learning solutions in production environments.
• Hands-on expertise in Computer Vision technologies including Object Detection, Object Tracking, Image Classification, Semantic Segmentation, Activity Recognition, Video Analytics, Scene Understanding.
• Experience building and deploying advanced computer vision solutions on edge devices.
• Strong knowledge of Audio AI, including Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), Audio Classification, Sound Event Detection, Speaker Recognition, Noise Suppression, Digital Signal Processing (DSP).
• Experience designing and implementing multimodal AI systems.
• Strong understanding of sensor fusion and contextual AI architectures.
• Experience deploying AI models on mobile, embedded, and edge computing platforms.
• Expertise in Edge AI deployment, model optimization, and inference acceleration.
• Experience optimizing AI models for latency, power efficiency, memory footprint, and scalability.
• Understanding of deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX, or similar platforms.
• Experience with AI model training, evaluation, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
• Familiarity with embedded systems and hardware-accelerated AI solutions.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience working within Agile and collaborative engineering environments.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and technical leadership skills.
• Ability to mentor engineers and drive technical excellence across AI initiatives.
