Job summary

Cotality India Private Limited (Next Gear India Private Limited) is hiring a senior software engineer to design and develop scalable software systems across the property insights platform. You will translate designs into robust code, build features for large applications, and help shape cloud-based data architectures.

The role requires 10+ years of software experience, strong SQL, Python, and cloud knowledge, plus hands-on big data and data modeling skills.

Qualifications

• BS Degree or equivalent in software engineering.
• Typically 10+ years of experience in a software development environment.
• Strong SQL and database querying skills (SQL, Postgres).
• Experience with Python, Google Cloud or equivalent.
• Experience with big data tools and data modeling is a plus.
• Hands-on with Cloud Platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Understanding of data warehousing, data modeling and unstructured data.

In India, we operate as Next Gear India Private Limited, a fully-owned subsidiary of Cotality with offices in Kolkata, West Bengal, and Noida, Uttar Pradesh. • Design and develop software systems by translating high and low-level designs into class and sequence diagrams for development.
• Write code to deliver scalable, quality, flexible, and user-friendly applications.
• Build defined features and deliver components for larger functional areas or applications.
• Investigate and resolve software bugs through systematic troubleshooting and problem-solving.
• Write comprehensive programmatic tests to ensure software quality and reliability.
• Apply engineering principles and methodologies to assigned projects and tasks.
• Communicate progress regularly and identify blocking issues to maintain project momentum.
• Mentor junior colleagues to foster professional growth and knowledge sharing.

Job Qualifications

• Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills BS Degree or equivalent work experience in a software engineering discipline
• Typically has 10+ years’ experience in an applicable software development environment
• Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases (SQL, Postgres)
• Experience with diverse coding, profiling, and visualization approaches including authoring SQL queries, BigQuery, Python, Google Cloud or equivalent
• Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
• Hands on experience with Cloud Platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Experience in designing and implementing large-scale event-driven architectures
• Understanding of data warehousing and data modeling techniques
• Understanding of Big Data, Cloud, Machine Learning approaches and concepts (preferred)
• Experience working as a member of a distributed team.
• Ability to organize and coordinate with stakeholders across multiple functions and geographic locations.
• Ability to develop and write technical specifications
• Coaching and teaching skills to mentor less experienced team members
• Excellent analytical and problem management skills
• Good interpersonal skills and positive attitude
• Experience with the following tools and technologies: Elastic Search, Kafka, Google Cloud Airflow (preferred), Python, Java, C++ , Big Query
