Job summary

Codal is a leading web design and development consultancy hiring a Senior Technical Lead in Ahmedabad. You will guide architecture, mentor engineers, and lead client-facing technical conversations while delivering high-quality software across web and mobile platforms.

We expect 7–10 years of overall experience, 2+ years of leadership, and strong React/TypeScript with Node.js or Python and modern databases. Experience with cloud platforms and AI-assisted tooling is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must have hands-on experience with React and TypeScript.
• Must have backend development experience with Node.js or Python and databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
• Ability to lead technical decisions, conduct code reviews, and mentor engineers.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

Who you’ll be working with

We build the solutions dreamed up by the product and design teams. Our goal is to deliver working software every two weeks. We are a large team that spans across three global offices, but we collaborate and integrate front- and back-end components and interfaces to provide a user‑centered experience through web and mobile platforms.

We expect this role to embody Codal’s principles of mindful excellence, insatiable expertise, diverse intuition, data‑led curiosity, and candid leadership in how you lead technically, mentor your team, and engage with clients.

What you’ll be doing

• Be a hands‑on technical leader, contributing to development and conducting regular code reviews.
• Participate and drive technical decision‑making across architecture, tooling, and implementation approaches.
• Establish and promote consistent engineering practices, coding patterns, and standards across the team.
• Provide hands‑on technical leadership on active projects, helping unblock engineers, resolve technical challenges, and keep delivery on track.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance and feedback to help grow the team's capabilities.
• Partner with Engineering and Project leadership to establish clear technical guardrails, standards, and ownership per projects.
• Serve as the primary technical voice in client conversations for your project, shaping scope and technical approach with the client rather than only executing what’s handed down.
• Support new business pursuits as needed, contributing technical scoping, proof‑of‑concept work, or estimates for prospective client engagements.

What you’ll need to be successful (Requirements)

Must have skills:

• Strong hands‑on experience with React and TypeScript.
• Strong backend development experience with Node.js or Python with one of the leading databases like PostgreSQL, MySql and/or MongoDB.
• Good understanding of full‑stack application architecture, API design, and databases.
• Ability to lead technical decisions, conduct code reviews, and mentor engineers.
• Experience with a cloud platform such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

Should have skills:

• Experience using AI‑assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, Gemini, or similar tools as part of the software development lifecycle.
• Strong problem‑solving and communication skills, with the ability to work independently on complex technical problems.
• Experience working in a client‑facing or consulting environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, project/product, QA, design, and client‑facing teams.

Nice to have skills:

• Experience with Docker and CI/CD.
• Experience building or integrating AI/LLM-powered applications.
