Job summary

V1 Drive is building a strong finance function in Bengaluru, owning the books, monthly close, compliance and reporting for an ecommerce automotive parts business across India. A junior accountant reports to this role as the team grows.

You will reconcile marketplace settlements, manage Zoho Books or Tally, handle GST, inventory valuation and MIS, and drive cross-functional understanding of margins by channel. This hands-on lead role suits someone looking to own a finance function end-to-end.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of accounts experience with independent ownership of a monthly close.
• Hands-on reconciling marketplace settlements, ideally Amazon Seller Central.
• Zoho Books or Tally with ability to move to Zoho quickly.
• GST filing including input credit reconciliation against GSTR-2B.
• Inventory accounting experience in a product business.
• Strong Excel: lookups, pivot tables, and large datasets.

Responsibilities

• Payment and settlement reconciliation across marketplaces including monthly cycles.
• Own the books in Zoho Books across sales, purchases, returns, expenses and banking; supervise entries from junior accountant.
• Complete the monthly close within seven working days of month end.
• Maintain supplier and customer ledgers, ageing and balance confirmations.
• Review the junior accountant's work before it enters the books.
• GST, tax and statutory filings support and audits.
• Monthly MIS including profit and loss by sales channel and gross margin by category.
• Cost per SKU and cash position tracking; manage vendor payments and due balances.

Job description

V1 Drive is a young ecommerce company selling automotive aftermarket parts for the passenger car segment across India. We sell on Amazon and Flipkart, our own website and app launch shortly, and the catalogue runs to around 30,000 SKUs at 150 orders a day and growing.

This is the senior accounts seat and the first serious finance hire in the company. You own the books, the monthly close, compliance, and the reporting the business uses to decide where it is making money. A junior accountant reports into you for entries and documentation.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN

Payment and settlement reconciliation

• - Reconcile marketplace settlements every cycle and establish whether we have been paid what we are owed
• - Identify and pursue discrepancies: incorrect fees, unsupported deductions, unreimbursed lost or damaged stock, mismatched freight charges
• - Reconcile the bank daily, with payment gateway settlements added as the website and app go live
• - Track TCS and TDS deducted by the platforms, accept the credits on the portal, and reconcile against Form 26AS

Accounting and close

• - Own the books in Zoho Books across sales, purchases, returns, expenses and banking
• - Complete the monthly close within seven working days of month end
• - Maintain supplier and customer ledgers, ageing and balance confirmations
• - Review the junior accountant's work before it enters the books

Inventory and returns

• - Ensure returns are graded, valued and recorded correctly, and approve the resulting inventory adjustments
• - Reconcile inventory in Zoho Books against the order management system and marketplace reports
• - Maintain stock records across our warehouse and marketplace fulfilment centres

GST, tax and statutory

• - Own GST end to end: GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, 2B reconciliation, annual return
• - Manage multi-state GST as fulfilment centres are added
• - Own TDS on vendor payments, and payroll with PF, ESI and professional tax
• - Support the statutory audit, tax audit and ROC filings

Reporting

• - Monthly MIS including profit and loss by sales channel and gross margin by category
• - Cost per SKU so margins are reported on true cost
• - Cash position, vendor payments due, receivable and inventory ageing

REQUIRED

• - Three to six years in accounts, with independent ownership of a monthly close
• - Hands on experience reconciling marketplace settlements, ideally Amazon Seller Central
• - Zoho Books, or Tally with the ability to move to Zoho quickly
• - GST filing including input credit reconciliation against GSTR-2B
• - Inventory accounting experience in a product business
• - Strong Excel: lookups, pivot tables, and confident handling of files running to tens of thousands of rows

PREFERRED

• - Multi-state GST exposure
• - Payroll and statutory compliance handled independently
• - Working fluency in English, Hindi and Kannada

This is hands on work in a company where the accounting is still being built. The settlements have never been properly reconciled and returns are the hardest part of the operation. It suits someone who wants to own a function rather than work inside a settled process.
