The team represents clients before Income Tax Officers and the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal and assists with replies to notices, assessments, appeals, and appearances before tax authorities. The firm also reviews significant transactions, ensures consistency across GST and income tax returns and audited financial statements, and offers confidential second opinions and tax health checks to directors and finance leaders.

Role Description

The Senior Accountant will manage end-to-end accounting operations, including bookkeeping, general ledger maintenance, and preparation of financial statements in alignment with applicable standards and regulatory requirements. The role involves overseeing statutory compliance, coordinating tax-related accounting entries, supporting tax planning initiatives, and assisting in the reconciliation of GST and income tax records. The Senior Accountant will collaborate with advocates and other finance professionals to provide accurate data for assessments, appeals, and internal reviews, and will help streamline accounting processes and internal controls. This is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Kolkata Area, requiring regular office presence and close coordination with the consultancy team and clients.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in accounting principles, financial reporting, and general ledger management, with proficiency in preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow statements.
• Experience with statutory compliance, including GST, income tax-related accounting, and company law requirements, and ability to support tax planning and audits.
• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel, including use of spreadsheets, reconciliations, and data analysis to ensure accuracy and consistency of financial records.
• Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills to identify discrepancies, interpret financial data, and support tax and advisory engagements.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with internal teams and clients, including the ability to present financial information clearly and professionally.
• Relevant academic background such as a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Prior experience in a professional services firm, consultancy, or tax-focused environment is preferred, along with familiarity with the Greater Kolkata business context.
