Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the daily accounting activities, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and supporting the financial reporting and compliance process. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Indian GAAP, tax regulations, and corporate financial reporting practices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. General Accounting:
– Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with domestic and international accounting standards.
– Maintain general ledger and journal entries, and ensure timely reconciliation of accounts.
– Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
– Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations, ensuring proper elimination and consolidation procedures.
2. Tax and Compliance:
– Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of GST, TDS, and other statutory returns (e.g., Income Tax, VAT, etc.).
– Liaise with external auditors and tax consultants for audits and tax filing.
– Monitor changes in Indian tax laws and ensure the company’s compliance with all statutory requirements.
– Prepare transfer pricing documentation and ensure compliance with Indian transfer pricing regulations.
3. Financial Reporting & Analysis:
– Prepare and analyze monthly/quarterly financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and other financial data.
– Provide insights and recommendations on financial performance, budget variances, and cost control.
– Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
4. Cash Flow Management:
– Monitor company’s cash position and assist with cash flow forecasting.
– Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
5. Audit & Internal Controls:
– Assist in preparing for internal and external audits, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to audit requirements.
– Review and strengthen internal controls, identifying areas for improvement to prevent financial discrepancies.
6. Team Collaboration & Leadership:
– Support and mentor junior accounting staff, guiding them on accounting processes and systems.
7. Other Responsibilities:
– Assist in the preparation of financial reports for management review.
– Participate in ad-hoc financial projects and provide support during system implementations or upgrades.
Key Requirements:
Education:
– Degree Accounting (CA, CMA, or equivalent qualification preferred).
– Certification as a Chartered Accountant (CA) is a plus.
Experience:
– Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience in accounting and finance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or senior role.
– Experience in a multinational company or large enterprise is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies:
– Strong knowledge of Indian accounting principles (Ind AS) and taxation laws (GST, Income Tax, TDS).
– Proficient in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Tally, QuickBooks, Oracle) and advanced MS Excel skills.
– Excellent understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
– Ability to analyze financial data and generate actionable insights.
– Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
– Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
– Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
– High level of integrity and ethical standards.
– Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
