Job summary

Worksoft in Hyderabad, India, is seeking a Senior ABAP Developer to design, develop, and maintain SAP ABAP solutions for our enterprise-grade products. This role demands hands-on ABAP expertise and a track record of delivering scalable and performance-optimized code.

You will collaborate with product, SAP functional consultants, and engineering teams to translate requirements into robust technical designs, implement RFCs, BAPIs, BADIs, and OData services, and ensure high-quality documentation

Qualifications

• 7+ years of ABAP development experience.
• Extensive SAP S/4HANA on-premise or cloud exposure.
• Experience building RFCs and integrating with SAP components.
• Strong ABAP objects and tuning skills.
• Proficient with RICEF objects, BAPIs, BADIs, forms, and interfaces.
• Knowledge of web services and API integrations (REST/SOAP).
• Familiarity with CDS views and modern extensibility (BTP RAP).

Role Overview

The ABAP Developer is a senior technical contributor within Worksoft’s product engineering organization, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality SAP ABAP solutions that support enterprise-grade products.

This role is ideal for an experienced ABAP professional who thrives in product environments, collaborates effectively across teams, and delivers scalable, performance-optimized solutions aligned with modern SAP landscapes.

Key Responsibilities

ABAP Development & Engineering

• Design, develop, test, and deploy SAP ABAP solutions for product features and enhancements
• Build and enhance ABAP objects including: Reports, Interfaces, BAPIs, BADIs, User Exits and Enhancements, Forms, Workflows, OData services
• Apply strong ABAP Objects and modern development best practices

Solution Design & Collaboration

• Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand functional requirements
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical designs
• Collaborate with SAP functional consultants to deliver high-quality solutions

Performance, Quality & Support

• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues with minimal downtime
• Perform performance tuning, debugging, and optimization
• Conduct code reviews to ensure quality, scalability, and adherence to standards
• Maintain high standards of documentation including: Technical specifications, Test plans, Deployment steps
• Expertise in software development practices (OOP, transaction processing, database design)
• Ability to bring new experience and approaches to the product
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other team members
• Strong communication skills to interact directly with customers

Role Requirements

• 7+ years of proven experience in ABAP development
• Experience in AP ECC 6.0 or SAP S/4HANA (on-premises or on-cloud), including exposure to S/4HANA 2025 capabilities and roadmap changes
• Worked from scratch on building RFCs (at least 1–2 projects)
• Modified and analysed Transports
• Hands-on experience in ABAP development with a solid understanding of SAP's technical architecture, including clean core principles and the shift toward ABAP Cloud / RAP (RESTful ABAP Programming Model)
• Strong competency in ABAP skills: RICEF objects, web services, function modules, interfaces, data migration, forms, screens, BADIs, and user exits
• Experience developing RICEF objects from scratch
• Excellent ABAP debugging and troubleshooting skills across standard and custom code
• API and integration experience: OData services, REST/SOAP web services, and exposure to SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) — Integration Suite, API Management, Event Mesh, or SAP BTP ABAP Environment
• Familiarity with CDS views and modern extensibility approaches (side‑by‑side extensions on BTP vs. classic on-stack development)
• Exposure to Fiori/UI5 or embedded analytics a plus
